Dream Machine, an India Pale Lager or IPL, is a melding of varied visions of an India Pale Ale and an Amber Lager. Once poured, its light copper color delights the eyes and a citrusy hop aroma flows through the nose. Upon first sip, a smooth hop bitterness reveals itself - fresh, bold and slightly spicy - before subtle hints of mild maltiness appear. A big hop bite and a crisp, clean lager finish combine for a beautifully balanced beer. Take Dream Machine for a spin and let your reverie begin.

Draft. An amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, malt, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruits, malt, and caramel, leading to a very bitter v finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light amber with a slight white head. Aroma of citrus and fruit. Very light aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is citrus and light stone fruit, and a touch of light treacle. Finishes lightly fruity, lightly bitter and lightly exciting. Or not exciting at all. How this is under Imperial Pils blows me away.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured a clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate citrus hops and small malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Soft brew and but good for style.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet butterscotch malt with light herbal hops. In mouth, a sweet cloying malt with light grassy hops, mineral notes, boring.

355ml. Hazed amber pour, crappy head. Literally smells liek it originated from europe. Stale as can be. Stale cracker and lime zest. Flavor is aspriny and bitter, pine sol, acridness. This is putrid.

22oz bottle, from Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield. Shared w/ local raters. Orange golden color, slight hue of yellow. Thin ring of bubbly white head. Caramel malts in the flavor, some light toastiness. Some bitter earthy hops, hint of orange. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish, light roughness in the finish. Medium-plus body. Decent, but not impressive. I feel like an IPL should be able to pass as an IPA, this one doesn’t really. I agree with nuplastikk, the amber malt kind of distracts. Not a great example of an IPL, but the ~$2.70 price point is on point.

Bottle. Clear ruby tones with a short and patchy head. Aroma is strongly dirty with heavy notes of yeast, paint, cosmetics and yogurt, with fainter off-notes of burnt corn kernels and butter / sweat (diacetyl), fruit esters of pear / fruit cocktail. Malt shows itself as dry pet food mix, red apple skin, nuts, and caramel syrup... hop aroma, which should be the focus here, is a limp heap of leaf vegetables / spinach and maraschino cherry and cedar / pine. Sweet with metallic off notes, medium-light body, watery, under-attenuated, lightly bitter... butterscotch, dead yeast, hemp, burnt nuts, cosmetics, DMS.... piu what a dirty beer!
