3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2011 Strongly rasperry aroma. Deep brown/black in color with strong tan head. The raspberry stands out of the roastiness, but itís not as strong flavors as expected.
Notes: í02 Bottle (opened in Nov í09)
Also Feast of Fools í09 (7,3,7,3,15) Similar to revell but with raspberry notes. Smells strongly of raspberry and chocolate. Deep brown in color.

Not a great fan of stouts and especially raspberry stouts but this one was rather good with a clean finish and a nice compliment to a holiday dessert

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle in trade. Consumed 2009. Pours a matte black with a thin head of dark tan cream. Aroma is very mild raspberry. It actually smells like red raspberry, not syrup. Flavors are well balanced but not oxidized at all, despite the age. Raspberry flavor and a mild stout, clean finish and incredibly smooth.

Aroma is excellent, with lots of dark fruit. It also has lots of dark roasty flavor. Itís a jet black color, with an off-white head. The flavor is awesome full of fruit, some roast, some chocolate. Smooth, but not exceptionally smooth. Awesome gift from my friends at Magic Hat.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a bottle shared by SeaOf Lament. (Thanks Carlos!) This one was quite interesting. Wonderful nose of milk chocolate and raspberries. Beautiful deep brown pour with a tan oatmeal head. The flavor was decent, with a MUCH more subtle experience than the nose. What really brought this down for me was the mouthfeel. Really watery and runny. You expect to drink liquid chocolate and instead get a thin, light body. Might be awesome over ice cream????

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted at the Sexual Chocolate release party thanks to the Magic Hat chicks....who brought a few bottles. Aroma of raspberry, light milk chocolate. Taste mostly the same, pretty carbonated, raspberry aftertaste almost seems artificial. Good but not great.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very nice looking bottle. Cork was very hard to remove from the bottle. Smell is faint raspberry, and a little black patent malt. Taste is mostly raspberry. However, this is a fizzy, highly carbonated, raspberry stout. Very thin and watery on the mouthfeel. I love raspberries, but the underlying stout here needs a lot of help.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by someone at the footsex gathering. There were two of these babies sitting in the cooler and I was intrigued and excited when I finally noticed one open on the table. This beer has some nice stout characteristics in body and flavor with the added bonus of the raspberries, one of my favorite fruits. Tasted kinda like a chocolate raspberry mousse. This is by far the best thing Iíve ever had from Magic Hat. Very tasty.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2006 2003 Bottle shared by Volgon, thanks alot. Pours black with a tan head, medium carbonation. Aroma is chocolate, sweet malts, and rasberries. Taste is chocolate and lightly bitter roasted malts, with a nice amount of rasberry in the finish with some lingering tart tannins. The rasberry character was nice and natural opposed to those nasty extracts. the best Magic Hat Iíve had so far.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cold 25oz corked bottle, 2003: Pours a dark cola color with a small amount of light tan bubbles. Aroma is of raspberry and chocolate with alcohol notes. Taste is of rich roasted malts with mild earthy hops bitterness and notes of chocolate. Watery texture and mildly carbonated. Ending is mostly sweet and lightly bitter. A perfect dessert beer, indeed!
