3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Opaque brown-black with a long tan head and wisps of lace that settle back into the brew. The taste is remarkable for a low abv - big taste of bitter chocolate and toasted malt, balanced at the end by a light bittering. Long chocolate finish. Not a brew to spend an evening with, as it is quite filling. Recommended.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Andersons in Sylvania. Brown pour with a medium khaki head and good retention. Aroma is chocolate, sweet malts, lightly tart. Tastes are oats, chocolate, nuts, roasty, coffee - then thin quick finish that is a little dry and bitter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black into a Sam glass. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim leaving spot lacing. Milk chocolate and espresso aromas. Thin with sweet caramel and licorice upfront turning to dry sweet milk chocolate before the medium length espresso and vanilla finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
3/4 pint bottle. Pours an inky purple (Lovibond 40) with tight, 1/2" head. Messy lace. Aroma is indiscernible and unremarkable. Tastes like water mostly. Kind of disappointing actually. Sure there's a silky palate and a slight coffee-bitter aftertaste. But this is not on par with any of the dozens of good stouts I've had this season. Quite bland.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Purchased a 6pack at the Newington Trader Joe’s. I’m getting cold feat: it sincerely smells of dog food, spent grain, soy sauce, wheat bread, American hops and milk chocolate. Hopefully it tastes better than it smells. It does taste better, but not by much: starts somewhat chocolatey with notes of cinnamon and hop bitterness. Its ending is a travesty: soured milk, hay, grass trimmings and wax. Fuck, Magic Hat why do you suck so much?

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smooth coffee and chocolate aromas. Black with a thick and dense tan head. Semi-sweet with elements of roast bitterness. Full bodied with a semi-sweet finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sample from a 12oz bottle. Dark brown color. Mildly hazy, minimal thin khaki head. Roasty, chocolatey nose. Big coffee flavor. Bigger body, smooth carbonation. More bitter taste, light sweet. Light sticky viscosity in the finish. Fine, but a bit too milky sweet in the end for me.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle. Happy to see this back in the lineup. Aroma of coffee and bread. Stout black, head persists. Flavor primarily coffee ice cream, burnt malt, dry cocoa and hops. Slightly dry, bitter but creamy. Note to Magic Hat - do not retire this one again.

Pretty good stout, on the drinkable side. Malt flavor is complex but smooth.
