COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winterís endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

Smooth coffee and chocolate aromas. Black with a thick and dense tan head. Semi-sweet with elements of roast bitterness. Full bodied with a semi-sweet finish.

Sample from a 12oz bottle. Dark brown color. Mildly hazy, minimal thin khaki head. Roasty, chocolatey nose. Big coffee flavor. Bigger body, smooth carbonation. More bitter taste, light sweet. Light sticky viscosity in the finish. Fine, but a bit too milky sweet in the end for me.

Poured from bottle. Happy to see this back in the lineup. Aroma of coffee and bread. Stout black, head persists. Flavor primarily coffee ice cream, burnt malt, dry cocoa and hops. Slightly dry, bitter but creamy. Note to Magic Hat - do not retire this one again.

Pretty good stout, on the drinkable side. Malt flavor is complex but smooth.

jbruner (2177) - Athens, Georgia, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Pours a translucent brownish-black from the bottle with foamy tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, slight dark chocolate and vanilla. Taste follows, but the sweetness falls to the coffee. Pretty damn decent for magic hat.

Picked up a six of this. Pours an expected barely transparent black with toffee colored head that disappears quickly. Aroma is roasty and sweet, comforting. Taste is silky with coffee, brown sugar, cocoa/chocolate, molasses balanced only slightly by the roastiness of the barley and oats. Nicely done!

Pailhead (4635) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate dark chocolate, dust, and roasted nuts. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights. It has a three finger beige head with good retention and lots of soapy webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla. The finish has light-moderate roasted nuts and light burnt coffee. Itís light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Itís a little thin for a Stout.

redpooba (396) - New York, USA - JAN 1, 2013
A very dark brown-black with a light-brown head. The aromas and flavor of the choco nibs are very well down. I typically donít expect such density in moderately priced beers. The only draw back was a bit of bitter aftertaste which is more reminiscent of Imperials rather than the regular stout.

Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid toasted dark chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted chocolate bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

UDBeernut (1625) - Moving to Jax, Florida, USA - DEC 31, 2012
On tap pours deep dark murky amber with ruby edges. Small head that leaves a intracate laxing pattern. Nose of roast. Taste adds hazlenut. Body is creamy but a tad chewy at times.
