COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winter’s endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

12 oz. bottle. Appearance: one finger of brown head that dissipates quickly, deep brown to black color, clear, Aroma: citrus, herbs, cereal, roasty, light chocolate. Palate: full body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter finish. Taste: Sweet front with a chocolately bitter finish. Overall, a good beer, well balanced, and rather unique.

Pours a dark ruby with a soapy head - nose of roasty malt, light char, light chocolate - a little bland - light to medium body, low carbonation - flavor is fairly dry, moderately bitter, lightly charred, somewhat roasty - finish has some milk chocolate sweetness - a little bland, with kind of an acidic finish.

TATE (345) - Lubec, Maine, USA - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee and molasses. A coffee flavor comes through for me along with chocolate. Lighter than I expected with a lot of sweetness from the malt. Just a little hop bite at the end. The roasted malt comes through as well, pretty smooth and overall very good.

Tap at Roasthouse Pub. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, light coffee notes, leather, pine hops. Flavor is dark, lightly bitter malt, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle on Rte. 8 in Pittsburgh. More harsh than smooth, the bitterness of this beer overwhelms any advertised silkiness. I would have liked a smoother and sweeter taste for this one.

Not bad. Decent smoky aroma and toasty flavor. Probably won't drink it again unless it's the only thing offered.

has a nice chocolate aroma, nice dark color with a thin tan head. Nice creamy body with a roast malt, faints hint of chocolate, not to shabby.

Lighter in color for a stout also with some odd spice notes. It changes from being really nice to really bad each passing drink.

bottle. Poured black with a tin brown head. Sweet rosted malt aroma. Medium body, prickly carbonation with a tart dry finish. Flavour of burnt malt, coffee, vanilla, bitter chocolate with an astringent finish.

Nice drinkable stout. Not too heavy, nice carbonation, nice balance with coffee and smoky notes with a lower ABV. Good change of pace stout from heavier varieties.
