Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winterís endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

Bottle at home in Salisbury. Pours.ear, rich red-brown with a frothy, fading tan head. Nose has toasty and bready malts to go along with a dose of milk chocolate. Medium sweetflavor with burnt popcorn, milky chocolate, some strong roast and filter coffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and silky texture. Decent balance to finish, some chalky cocoa, earthy bitterness, charred malts, wet leaves, burnt toast. Starts a bit awkwardly but finishes well.

12 ounce bottle, Winterland pack, from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of oats, roasted malts, chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, cherry-like fruits, oats, nuts. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

This brew pours an inky black color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Light-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of sweet malt, dark chocolate and slightly peppery hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a chocolatey aftertaste. Proof that Magic Hat can make a decent beer if they put their minds to it.

Bottled. Poured clear, deep brown with a short-ish lived beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted oats, chocolate, and black malts with hints of molasses and vanilla.. sweet and enjoyable. The flavor found mostly burnt black malts and coffee maltage at the core, with vanilla and extra roast around.. finished dry and roasty, but with just enough sweetness to balance. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate.. very good feel and flow.. I could drink a lot of it.
