Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winterís endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain), with notes of chalk and vanilla. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Very simple and overly sweet.

Bottle from Kroger. Dark pour with a big beige head. Aroma is kinda sweet and roasty with a nice bit chocolate. Taste is ashy and astringent with that covering up what could have actually been a nice cocoa and roasted nut flavor. Awkward finish.

A very nice pouring really dark beer. Cleanish stout olfactory. Wew, a little strong at first but I think it starting to mellow immediately. Perhaps borders on imp stout on the slug but each swig has the same metamorphis; strong impact followed by a smoothing effect. Roasty partially burned old campire wood after a breif wet rain. Dense but not thick.

Purchased a 6pack at the Newington Trader Joeís. Iím getting cold feat: it sincerely smells of dog food, spent grain, soy sauce, wheat bread, American hops and milk chocolate. Hopefully it tastes better than it smells. It does taste better, but not by much: starts somewhat chocolatey with notes of cinnamon and hop bitterness. Its ending is a travesty: soured milk, hay, grass trimmings and wax. Fuck, Magic Hat why do you suck so much?

Bottle. Sweet chocolate and light mocha aroma. Black brown with a small tan head. Coffee, chocolate and a roasty bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Pours a dark black almost like oil, with tan head. Roasted malts, cocoa, and some dark fruits on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with an interesting roasty note. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very dark, not much head. Aroma is faintly toasty with sour/metallic top notes. Taste is dry, roasty, and somewhat sour. Not great.

Im surprised at peoples ratings for this beer. I feel like it taste more like a coffee than a beer. Light hints of chocolate but in my opinion too over powered by a roasted coffee flavor. Strong color, weak after taste. Would not order again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep brown color, handsomely thick brown head up top. Smell of roasted grain, mild oxidation, not much else.

Taste of roasted malt is a bit watery and acidic. Little off on the mouthfeel too: would prefer less carb and more viscosity -- even for a non-imperial stout. Can't count off for thickness, carb is an issue though. Decent.
