3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Magic Hat claims this beer is a combination of the altbier and marzen styles.Pours a clear, dark gold color, with a three finger head. Strong malt and roasted notes in the aroma. I don’t get hops in the aroma but they are definitely there in the taste, the bitterness standing up to the malt. I don’t get caramel in the palate, probably because of the hop bitterness. This beer most resembles the Blue Point Oktoberfest I reviewed previously. I bit of a thicker mouthfeel however.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Flying Saucer- Cordova. Orange-amber pour. The nose, flavor, and palate are deeper in fruit than most Märzens. Enjoyable in session with other Oktoberfests, though not at the front of the pack.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Fairly unremarkable. Bitter, dry, floral hoppy aroma. Golden amber color with a tinge of red and a little haze to it. A floral bitterness in the middle with a lavender taste that lingers. Full bodied, but a little sticky. Bitter finish with a short drop off. Tough competition, considering the strength of Octoberfests and autumn seasonals, leading to high expectations, but it just doesn’t stack up.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice golden amber color. Peppery taste slightly bitter. It is drinkable, but is an unremarkable beer.

3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle with no freshness date. Bottle cap reads: "Be True. Be You." Served in a steidel.
Appearance: Very clear, dark amber color. Almost a finger of head, that quickly fizzles out into a thin ring. No lacing on the glass.
Smell: Not aromatic at all. Slight hints of malt and hops, but that’s about it.
Taste: Quite malty with a helping of hop bitterness. A bit of sweetness in there as well with an overall smoky taste.
Mouthfeel: Not that much carbonation. It’s medium bodied and creamy.
Overall: Not the best seasonal out there, but it’s not like Magic Hat was out to knock everyone out. It’s certainly one of the more interesting ones available. Definitely worth a try.

traditionally not an oktoberfest brew fan, but I’d say this beer was worth a whirl.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Soft initial taste that does not get much stronger as an octoberfest-style beer. Has a bit of a watery back-end taste.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, pours a pretty amber resin color. Healthy looking white head dissipates quickly, letting out aromas of caramel malts, floral and slightly fruity notes. Malty, bready, a little alcohol towards the end. All in all a pretty drinkable spin on an Oktoberfest.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Color: Dark Amber
Nose: very yeasty dark bread with a hint of very ripe pumpkin
Taste: sweet and sour yeast on the front palate, dark bread and pumpkin with a touch of moldiness on the mid palate, dark pumpkin bread type flavor on the finish
Mouthfeel: Not the quite velvetty, but considering the flavor and hops involved very smooth for the style
Comments: While not the best, very good octoberfest style seasonal beer; I can tell they tried to do something different and a bit more challenging in regards to flavor and I appreciate that; definitely worth trying at least once
