COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, it’s an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. It’s the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again.

Small offwhite head, lasting. Hazy orange color. Somewhat piney, resiny hop nose. Medium body. Lots of oily, resiny hops. Grapefruity, citrusy sticky ole hops! A touch of malt in the background. Finish is dry with a good freakin hop bite. Fairly impressive for Magic Hat.

(Bottle) This IPA makes your tongue go wild! Every taste will bring out new interesting flavors. One of the more unique tasting IPAs I have tried. Will have to try again!

Crunchy pine and grapefruit hops hanging on the palate, culminating in a dry bark ending...Malt is non-consequential it seems, this a hop quaffer...As pleasantly sense numbing and thirst quenching as Rogue's Brutal Bitter...

Hippie Alert label!Appearance is a pretty appealing cloudy amber with a decent white head at first that diminishes very fast to become a ring around the glass. Aroma is strange, weird hopping. I don't know if that's typical to Columbus character, but there was a "litter" feel in the nose, increasing as it warms. It was not totally unpleasant, just unexpected. The mouthfeel is creamy, a medium body that slips through the mouth naturally. The hop attack is honest, floral, but it didn't propose enough malt balance to top its class. An okay session beer that seems to be made without any special efforts.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2004 Piney hops aroma and flavor, rich malt backbone to balance it out. Alcohol is hardly noticeable. Nothing really to complain about.

Golden-yellow colour with a frothy white head. Moderate hop aroma compared to what I was expecting. Resiny/piney hop flavour with some citrus sweetness in the finish. I like the fact that it is not too over-the-top (something that ruins many an Imperial IPA), but it could use a bit more complexity and aroma.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2007 I like what was written on the bottom of the cap, " Dont let it grow on your toe." A golden amber color with a small white head with some lacing. A pine sap aroma, as it is sticky and does not present a bouquet effect, The dry hopping is evident but does not lend itself to flavor, which is slightly bland, as to the drying effect. Drinkable but not memorable.

Gravity Cask, GBBF 2003 Lychees all over the place! They're crawling on my face, man! Hmm. Aroma is flowery, delicate and awesome. Zingy hops. Soft but full mouthfeel. Lots of interest - good balance of sweet malt and American hops. Delicate, soft and full of flavour.

Had this little gem with Duff at the GBBF. Wow did it smell good. I was 3-parts-cut by this stage but his beer stopped the frenzy in its tracks. Very hoppy, and very more'ish....trouble was I was drinking with Dave (legendary cellarman of the W.A.) and I was far from his equal.
