Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, it’s an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. It’s the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again.

DATE TASTED: November 17, 2013... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... OCCASION: one sink leak fixed--tomorrow, the toilet unclogs!... APPEARANCE: golden yellow body--quite light (and bright!) for an IPA--and a thick milky white head; equally thick, cirrus wisps of lacing... AROMA: quite a fragrant floral bouquet with banana, clove and citrus zest--attractive and yet appropriate (!) for an IPA... PALATE: a bit acidic late, but overall a drinkable, persuasively medium-bodied ale that sits well in the mouth...TASTE: immediate punch of mango and peach gives way to pinecone; a comfortable, fruity, fittingly rewarding profile...OVERALL: The fall beers in this mix pack fall short, but the IPA wins out as distinguishing and desirable--this will b e my Magic Hat go-to in the future...

Appropriate copper color, great head retention, pleasant citrusy aroma, good mouth feel. This IPA disppoints, however, due to its strong, lingering malt aftertaste.

Bottle - Pours a Darkish amber with a loose white head that disapates. Aroma is of citus, fruity hops. Flavor is strongly of hops wihtout much malt, Grapefruit and citrus very apprent with a large hop bite ... quite bitter and yummy. Finish is quite bitter and hop laced with a lightly sweet undertone. 2006 bottled. Pours a nice clear golden body with a foamy, off-white head. Head mostly dissipates. Light citrus-hoppy aroma. Initial flavor is mildly bitter with a citrus-hoppy finish (grapefruit.) Medium palate finishes nice. I really enjoyed this brew.

Deep honey color, almost an amber with a very small fizzy white head. Very floral aroma with the onset of hops. Slightly citrusy as well. The aroma is just plain great. The flavor is not complex, but it does satisfy quite well. Dry at first, hoppy-but not overly so. This is certainly no imperial IPA, but it doesn’t claim to be now does it! I was surprised by the malty sweetness that followed the initial hop bite. Finished well and left a lingering flowery hop spice on the tongue. A pleasant surprise and easily my new favorite Magic Hat beer.

Aggressive citrus/diacetyl/mild fusels combination - that somehow works in the nose. Caramelly, sweet with buttery notes coated in bitterness, but finishing with a lick of caramel and a dry hop astringence. The aroma is this beer’s signature - the body is lighter than it indicates, but it’s well made - beautiful label - nice IPA

12oz. bottle - pours clear gold with a big white head on top that leaves excellent lacing in the glass. Lots of citrus in the aroma along with a sweet malt background. Pretty standard characters of an American IPA, but this is very fresh in the nose. Flavour is equally fresh and clean...crisp. Grapefruit, orange, pine, blah blah, you know...nice herbal, bitterness in the finish. Nothing surprising here, but this may be one of the more satisfying regular US IPA’s I’ve had. Very thirst quenching and smooth. I love it.
