COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Born of dark and cold and snow in the marrow of the northeast’s longest night, HOWL comes in on wailing winds with winter-weary eyes burning holes in sunless shadows. In its darkened depths out inner voids are warmed. 12.0° Plato

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2011 Pours a rich dark brownish red, looks opaque black with tanish-yellow head. Smells sweet, almost bready with a doughy yeast smell, not hoppy at all; maybe some hay smell too, in a good way. Tastes unlike the nose, almost like a toasted caramel flavor, with a little bit of sweetness, bitterness, and sourness; it leaves one wondering. Medium-bodied with an oddly creamy texture and mild mouth carbonation, Magic Hat Howl finishes with a lasting sweetness that warms the coldest winter nights.

I really like this beer. Good winter malts. Great look, not much lacing though. Good head on pour. Wonderful taste of choclate and maybe coffee notes. Good winter.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Howl pours dark brown with a medium-sized head. The aroma is wonderfully smoky with a nice combination of malts and hops. The body is medium to medium heavy and very smooth. Roasted grains caress your mouth and slip out the back door with barely a whisper. This is the best Magic Hat beer I’ve had.... granting that I haven’t had many.

Purchased as sampler pack pours dark with slight cream head. Nice coffee aroma flat on the nose almost expectant of a nitro brew. Rolls nicely on the tongue with a medium sweet full mouth feel. A long creamy coffee resin with a soft CO2 nip that teases your mouth, but doesnt leave it sticky sweet. Actually a big fan or this brew.

Pours an opaic dark brown with a short lasting light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt with notes of coffee and chocolate and maybe a hint of maple. The light-medium body delivers a strong roasted malt flavor. Like the aroma, the taste has notes of coffe and chocolate. This beer goes well with a large variety of food. Would drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is deep black with a dense and sticky small brown head...great lacing...smell is super roasty and chocolatey with hints of molasses...taste is uber roasty with nice toasted bread, roasted coffee, milk chocolate, bakers chocolate...great chewy mouthfeel...rich...slow lingering finish. What an impressive beer!

Cybercat (1913) - Georgia, USA - NOV 26, 2010
Comes out of the tap a deep opaque chocolaty sable with a fine-bubbled tan head that leaves some decent lacing. Aroma is rich and mainly of quality coffee with hints of molasses and unsweet chocolate. Rich, smoky coffee flavor has hints of chocolate, wood and toffee. Lively, fizzy texture leaves a nice tingle and hints of good mocha.

Magic Hat Howl is a nearly opaque dark brown lager with a thin, beige film that leaves good lacing. It appears to have some particles in it. Chocolate and roast are prominent in the aroma, with a hint of vanilla and sweetness. It’s medium, maybe medium-light, bodied and smooth. The finish is quick, light and dry. It has a simple, almost delicate, flavor. It tastes just like the aroma: chocolate and roast. The very light bitterness at the finish is wooden and herbal. It’s very smooth and drinkable.

Chalky brown color with a small tan head. The head lasts for the drink though, and there is some mountainous lacing. Malty brown ale aroma. Balanced taste, though malty, there is a noticeable hop presence. The taste has some roasted malts too. The body is perfectly medium-thin. The finish is short. This is a great beer.

The aroma is toast and coffee. The appearance is opaque black with a two finger tan head. The body is medium plus and smooth with onlya mildly perceptable hoppiness. Good.
