Born of dark and cold and snow in the marrow of the northeast’s longest night, HOWL comes in on wailing winds with winter-weary eyes burning holes in sunless shadows. In its darkened depths out inner voids are warmed. 12.0° Plato

Mild roasted malt aroma. Nice creamy head with lots of floaty bits. Good malty flavor. A decent schwarz.

Dark beer with ruby highlights when held up to the light. Creamy tan head out of the keg. NIce roasted grains in the nose with some brown sugar sweetness. Flavors of coffee and toast. Dark caramel sweetness that gets more prominent as it warms. Nice black beer.

...from the bottle. Dark brown\ black pour with dark tan head. Lots of roasted malts and some nuttiness. Had nice smooth flavor, was relatively creamy. Finished with roasted nut flavor, was pretty decent actually.

A bit sweet and roasty in the aroma. This is a tad sweet but also quite thick. Very much in the schwarzbier style. Not bad, just not what I’m feeling right now.

Pours black, almost opaque, with a small light brown head mostly dissipating. Nose is malt and yeast. Fairly creamy on the palate, the taste dark roasted malt, with hints of chocolate and coffee. Nice tasting schwarztbier. Pairs well with mixed nuts.

Draft at Sugar Moms. Dark pour with minimal head. Burned toast. Not too sweet or bitter. Crisp flavor but thin palate.

Aroma is dark grains and a strong nuttiness. The flavor is caramel/toffee and very nutty, with a hint of fruit and acidity in the finish.

bottle - Pours very dark brown with a small light tan head. It was a malty, chocolate accented aroma. The flavor is roast malt with not much more going on. It’s one dimensional to me, an okay but uninteresting medium bodied brew.

Alright, this is a good, but not great, schwarzbier. It was a gift from my girlfriend and well appreciated, but there are better black lagers out there.

Bottle. Dark brown with thin tan head. Nose is pretty mild, some roast, light cocoa, molasses. Flavor is similar, some roast, lactose, minerals. Easy drinking and unoffensive, if boring.
