Pours a clear mahogany with fair tan head ring. Decent caramel toasty nose with sweet and nutty flavor. A little astringent, but overall, pretty nice. Has more scotch ale notes.

2011 Brewfest Roch. Poured clear brown with a mushroom tan head. nose of oat and sweetness. roasted malt warmth on the tongue with nuts and breadyness. Still a bit thin but at least it somewhat represents a red. Some people at the fest, say it is not as good as it used to be. (It’s not my type)

Clean tasting with a fizzy malty presence. The malts have a slight toffee with some nuttiness. Hops are bitter and clean. The color is brown red with a scrubbing taste

puboflyons (1429) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 19, 2011
The pour is a darker amber with a quick head that dissolves and leaves just a small amount of lacing. The aroma is full of sweet caramel malts and a faint hoppy crispness. The body is medium to full. The taste has an up front caramel-molasses malt sweetness witha sharpiung more biting finish. It is a decent take on the style.

The aroma is sweet and slightly toasted with caramel malt, brown sugar, yeast, and grains. The appearance is brown amber with a smaller head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall a well crafted beer without any real standout qualities.

Bottle from variety pack. P is ruby brown w an offwhite head that dissipated to the edge. Nose is full malts and dark ffruit balance to be deep and satisfying. Taste is similar though light and drinkable. Decent brew for the style

12 oz bottle, pours a dark copper/brown color. Minimal head. Aroma is very prominent and appetizing, especially for an Irish ale. Very roasty and nutty with some toffee noted. Not as skunky/yeasty as other Irish ales can be. Taste was bitter and sweet, fairly well balanced. Mildy full body, moderately bitter aftertaste. Overall great representation of the genre.
