3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color with a thin head. Good aroma of cocoa and coffee. The taste stays the same and gains some sweet malt. I thought this was a stout; it seems completely at odds with the Irish Ale style. Well balanced and rounded.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The initial and lasting impressions were the same: tobacco. I don’t smoke, don’t chew, don’t snort, and yet this beer tasted like licking the inside of a pipe bowl. Also present were smoke, some apple fruitiness, and toffee. But overall--tobacco. It got old after a while...

although still not up to snuff this is one of the better magic hat beers ive had. poured clear brown with a musroom tan head. nose of oat and sweetness. roasted malt warmth on the tongue with nuts and breadyness. still a bit thin but at least it somewhat represents a red.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Mahogany, off-white head. Brandy aroma, thick, malty. Mild flavor for what it is. Cherries, a little alcohol; cough syrup. Should be more challenging.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark reddish brown ale with a smooth creamy pale moka head, verry nice. Sweet vanilla and Coffee crisp in aroma, with pellets of malt. In mouth, a nice roasted chestnut comes out with very discreet hops. Verry woody and nutty in character, a good Irish Red! Medium bodied. Too bad its retired!

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer pours a deep magenta red color with a very thick viscous pearlish head and a nice degree of lacing. The aroma was of cherries, some citrus, vanilla, sweet malt, some chocolate and some acetics. The flavor is medium bodied and incredibly carbonated as I’ve come to expect from Magic Hat. An acetic bitter chocolate and watermelon like flavor with a heavy emphasis on cloves, hay and grass. Considerable bitterness and fruity sweet and hoppy bitter contrasts..but not in a good way. And what was with that maple syrup and honey-like finish. This had some of the weirdest flavors ever...but once again, not in a very good way. Herbal flavored...like drinking cherry tea, but bitter. Patience is obviously not a virtue.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one from notes....Poured out a nice reddish hue with a beautiful sized and textured head. It was very drinkable with nice notes of toffee and malt with some sugary notes in there too. Shame its retired, probably my favorite magic hat so far.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured huge initial head..dark redish wood. Fragrant spicey aroma. Chocalate and other malts, not too sweet, appropriately carbonated. Bit of roasted grounds, chewy, easy drink..like a draft. Bittersweet finish and aftertaste. L

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
medium brown and a little golden red at the edges. the head is tall, pillowy and medium tan. the aroma is malty brown sugar, and raw hazel nuts. flavor was mildy sweet roasted malt, but the earthy hops were a little bitter and sour. a little nuttiness in the finish too.
