Reddish to amber color, very smooth on the palate with a malty finish. I recommend this for people who don't like the bitterness of a hoppy beginning (or should I say appreciate). Excellent drinker no surprises another staple from Magic Hat.

Poured into a pint glass. Deep red color, though almost transparent. A half finger of off-white head that fell down quickly. A wet malty smell, almost musty. Not really impressed with the taste. Kind of "meh". A watery taste followed by a blunted sweetness. Light bodied, almost no carbonation and smooth. Not bad tasting, just nothing really going on. Meh.

Toasty malts are the main player here. Brick red with a nice off-white head. Good light sweet malts, a bit of fruit, too. It drank well but was one of those beers that I forgot about during a conversation. It just didn’t hold my attention after the first few swigs. Solid.

Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Pours clear russet with a soft, creamy, off-white head. Pretty classic Irish Ale aroma: caramel, toasty malts, leaves. Light sweet flavor, wet leaves, dull caramel, toast, mild bitterness. Light bodied with fine, tingly carbonation. Faintly dry and sweet to finish, leafy bitterness, slight semi-dark fruits, toasty malts. Very basic beer but not offensive in any way, really.

Brownish color pour with a head that fades rapidly. Plain ol beery aroma. Friendly initial low alky malty taste makes this presentable. Decent amount of co2 on the palate. Comes across a little creamy. Yes, friendly and rather easy. I was expecting something overly malty for some reason but this is not too bad! Picking up some carob in there I think. Good overall beer experience. Probably could drink a few of these at a stiing. More like a mild ale.

One of the tastier Irish Ale’s I’ve tried. Red, nice looking, very malty and rich, with malt notes such as toffee, sugar, sweet but not too sweet. Very well done session ale.

Tap at international Beer Fest 2011. I’m usually more impressed with Magic Hat’s bravery in brewing new and unusual styles each year, more so than I am with their execution. Not the case here. The aroma is earthy, caramel. The appearance is a deep red, cream-colored head. The flavor is earth, caramel, pine. The fiish is light pine, lingering sweetness. Medium to medium/thick in body. Quite good. Standout for this style.

Pours an extremely dark red with a small light tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, cherry and toffee. Nice carbonation, roasted malts, little chocolate and caramel, some fruit.

Dark reddish pour with a small white head. Caramel malt and cider notes lead to biscuit fruitiness and lactic hints. Medium body with low carbonation. Slightly astringent. Not good...
