Great red color, but not sure it tastes like a red ale, but Magic hat has a good group of beers a must try.

Darker and stronger that the Irish reds I've tried in the past. Hoppier, too. Strong, almost stout-like aroma. Smooth, creamy head. Another quality beer from MH.

A dense, flavorful & aromatic ale. Garnet color. Presence of cherry, some honey. Slight tangerine. Nice malt. Decent finish.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2004 Bottle. Earthy, woody, malty, nutty, roasty, wheaty, spicy, choco and who-knows-how-many-other notes somehow melding into a nicely balanced whole. Can you tell I like this stuff? I’ve had it on three occasions so far; and each time I’ve found it to be as good or better than I remembered. I used to think Killians was a good Irish Red until I discovered this one. BUY AGAIN?: Yes; Frequently, if a 6 of this didn’t cost exactly as much as a 12 of Yuengling.

Bottle( then draught later at the brewery). Appearacne is ruby with an off-white head. The roastiness is quite evident in the aroma. In the flavor you can taste the caramel and a well balanced chocolate flavor. This is the best irish red ale I have ever had. I hear they are going to discontinue this beer--what a shame. Excellent beer for such an average and sometimes predictable style.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2007 Bu d’une demi-galon, avec ma mère. C’est las seule bière qui me déçoit parce qu’elle n’est plus. Elle était plus savoureuse que Kilkenny.

A nice surprise from a generally good, not great, brewer.

very dark red, complex malt presence, smokey hints, hops are noticeable and provide good balance. An excellent example of the style

Pours very very dark red. Creamy thick head. Not much nose, faint earthy/malty. Surprising bitter chocolate with a very nice hop balance. Very clean finish.

nicely surprised by this one -- great roast aroma but not too much -- a little cloudy, but the flavor was smack on -- i would gladly stock up on this one
