3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The crystal hops create a wonderful citrus, grapefruit aroma. The hops arent overbearing though. Not your typical pils. (short rating due to finding this on my notes in my phone)

Bottle. Golden hazy amber pour with a thick head. Lemon, fruit, pear, scone, herb, floral, earth. Sweat and bitter. Caramel, citrus and spice. A bit syrupy. Warm and soft. Gets much better balanced as it opens up. Pretty good

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle into pilsener glass, bottled in Spring 2012. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of lemon, pear, biscuit, nuttiness, orange zest, herbal, floral, light pepper, grass, and earthy spiciness. Some nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of lemon, pear, pepper, bread, cracker, floral, pine, light nuttiness, light citrus zest, grass, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of spicy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, light nuttiness, pine, citrus, pepper, floral, grass, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and complexity of flavors with big hoppiness; fair amount of malt balance; and a fair amount of cloying spicy pine bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, slick, and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Definitely a sipper with all of the intense hop flavors. Overall this is a nice imperial pilsner. Good flavor complexity and solid balance; and quite smooth to sip on. I enjoyed this quite a bit, despite the cloying hop bitterness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Has a nice German hopfeel, but thiere is a bit too much of a grainy emphasis for me. Slightly hazy, gold, frothy foam, thick retention. Floral nose.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed 9/29. About 8 oz. poured into a Kostritzer pilsner glass.
A: Pours a golden amber color with medium clarity - less than I expect from a typical pils, but more than I expect from an IPA. The head is a one finger offwhite color with decent texturing and okay retention. This leaves a nice film of lacing on the glass.
S: Smells kind of sweet, with a combination of brown sugar and carapils malts. The hops try to manifest as hints of pine and grapefruit, but this is otherwise malty.
T: The front end has a nice bit of caramel and toffee sweetness, but the finish is too bitter - not in a hoppy way, but rather in an imbalanced "hey, IPA = bitterness amirite?" way. Not balanced at all, but it cuts through the spicy food I’m having along side this in a solid manner.
M: Heavy, syrupy, and hard to drink, which is a death knell for any kind of pilsner. There is a touch of dryness on the finish, but a LOT more would be appreciated. At least the carbonation is pleasant.
O: Meh. Imperial pilsners make absolutely no sense, unless they’re little more than IPAs with lager yeast. This is not that kind of brew, as its just too hard to drink. It’s acceptable enough, but I don’t care if I ever have this again.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to sample. The beer had a cloudy, churning straw color with an average-sized creamy white head that had good retention and solid lacing, along with great cling. The beer’s aroma featured straw and grainy hops, along with light yeast and wheat, and touches of fruit, floral, and caramel notes. The beer was initially lightly sweet and a touch fruity, but becomes a bitter-sour grainy mix with notes of straw and yeast. It was a fairly dry beer with high carbonation, but was a touch thin with a light mouthfeel.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very slightly hazy golden coloured body with a super, nine plus centimetre thick off-white head that fades nicely. Aroma of grass, hay, yeast, bread, alcohol, oranges and a twinge of metal. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep malty flavour with a ton of alcohol noticeable, a lot of hay, grass, herbal and barnyardie qualities with a pungent yeast kick and a little sugar at the end. Aftertaste shows a nice complex flavour, especially for the style, with perhaps too much alcohol noticeable, but some nice grassy notes and a bit of sweetness too. Overall, a nice beer and one from Magic Hat that I was actually kind of looking forward to sample. Buy and try it if you can find it, but this was the only time I saw the bottle. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-April-2012 for US$8.65 sampled at home in Washington on 02-October-2012.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma is slightly fruity with a light stonefruit note. Flavor is sweet and stonefruity with pine creeping in...sweet! Mouthfeel is full and syrupy with a stonefruit/pine bitter finish.
