Bottle, pours cloudy reddish brown with thin white head that quickly disappears. First thing you notice is smoky taste with considerable sweetness, then a watery feel if you concentrate on it.

12 oz bottle, from the in-laws beer fridge. Pours a hazy dark ruby body under a one finger fizzy almost white head that faded quickly to a wispy film. The nose is just lightly smoky with some toasted malt below and a very light touch of hops. The flavor is actually more smoky than I expected from Magic Hat, not overpowering like Aecht beers, but it’s the centerpiece of the beer for sure. The finish brings out the sweeter toasted malt notes and a light bitterness. Lingering peat note that I wish were stronger, but still the dominant characteristic. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a watery texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, a nice Smoked for the masses, it’s a nice intro to the style, but probably not a huge draw for the hardcore Smoked beer lover like I am.

Bottled. Pours brown with an off white head. Smells of malt and apples. Tastes like a cider mixed with a beer, apples, honey, hops, caramel, earth, a hint of smoke. Very nice, but also has a disappointing watery finish. Would drink again, I think it succeeds in reminding me of autumn.

12 oz bottle-Poured a dark cola color w/a small off white head. Sweet, carbonated aroma. Pretty easy drinking brew, has a smoked flavor to it but it’s not a curl your toes smoked like an Alaskan or Aecht-which I would have prefered. Had some flavors of peat & chocolate, as well as some carbonation to it. Enjoyable; good introduction to this style for someone who’s not a beer geek. Long, bitter finish
