The label is an inigma. Off volatile aroma in the first pop. 12 oz brown bottle. Dark iced tea look and slightly hazy. Yes oh yes, a smoky taste greets the palate but it is not overwhelming. It is just enough to tickle the gag reflexes and then lays off. Another swing and I feel burned wood creaminess on the palate. I got this one midsummer. Mouth coating and clinging at times. Not sure if I feel strong ale in here or not.

Definitely an interesting beer, and gravitates towards a scotch ale almost. I had all three seasonal this year from MH within a day of each other. Maybe it was better because of the "flight" I’m not sure. A pretty sweet beer for the style (sweet, as in sugary). Nothing else going on in it, but something different.

Bottle with an expiration date of Dec ’07. Pours a decent reddish-black. Not a whole lot of head or lacing. A kind of chocolate-like aroma at first but then I pick up whiffs of the smoked brew. A solid mouth feel and an awesome smoky-sweet flavor. Really kind of unique. Another Magic Hat brew that I am happy to have found.

Holy crap, they call THIS a smoked? The last smoked I had was an Aecht Schlenkerla and what a difference. Aroma was nil. Pour was a decent murky brown with a one finger white head. Taste was like a bland mix of malt, seltzer water and sugar. I don’t taste a hint of smoke. As a different style this would be decent, but rated as a smoked this is awful. No smokiness at all.

Draft McGillians Center City Philadelphia-Pours a deep brownish of medium body, with a slight half inch of head which diminished somewhat slowly. Aroma’s are sweat with flavorful malt flavoring. Nice for a seasonal, but probably wouldn’t drink it that often.

Aroma of dirt, moss, malt and a little sweet caramel. Color is a relatively deep brown. Flavor is malty, I can slightly detect the smokes peat in the flavor, but maybe it’s just my imagination. Not too bitter, pretty good autumn brew.

12 oz bottle. Pours a beautiful caramel color. A nice deep reddish brown. Nose is malty and earth like. Did not get any smoke in the aroma at all. This is a nice malty, earthy, sweet, caramel flavored brew. I don’t see where this is a smoked brew though. There is nothing in this brew that reminds me of "fall’s bonfires". A little tiny bit of smokiness came thru at the tale end.

Very rich aroma when you first open the bottle. The smoked quality really shows through. The taste is very rich with malts and a biscuit like after taste. Very good brew.
