COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

Got this in a mixed up 12 pack from my brother a couple of years ago during Halloween time but didn’t take good notes.

Thick milky head sits on top of this deep chestnut colored ale. Aroma reminiscent of musty antique wood with caramel. Palate is moderately smokey, giving a smoked wood or sometimes bacon like character that mixes with malt sweetness. A medley of herbal flavors is present in the background behind the smoke. Not too far off from a Rauchbier in many regards. Full bodied. Finish is medium long with a sour note. Very pleasant. Unique.

Amber copper with a medium tan rocky head. Aroma of smoke, roasted meats, peat and roasted malt. Taste of smoke, salt and crystal malt with a clean-esque finish that leaves a smoky aftertaste. Smooth but a touch thin, one of magic hat’s better offerings.

12 oz. bottle from Doboy - thanks Ed. Clear mahogany pour, rather spare bubbly head that settles quickly. Hints of smoke overlay molasses and some dark fruit. Medium body, quite effervescent which does not complement this beer. Healthy dose of caramel sweetness up front ushers in a peppery bitterness. Still, some sweetness and smoke lingers in the finish. Not exactly stellar, but better than its rating suggests. Lose the fizziness, and it’s much better.

Aroma is smoky in dead, nice malty roast smoke. Appearance is a dark full color. No head notably. Flavor is a bit smoky, mostly roasty malts. Not to smooth a bit watery and a bit astringent.

12 oz bottle. Pours copper brown with a little soft foam head. Smells of caramel, burnt sugar, and candy. Tastes of weird smokey, burnt sugar, cork, some vanilla, and hazelnut. Very unusual beer.

A bit of a funky aroma that is not all smokeCaramelly flavor with alot of smoke and peet. Finishes with a bit of a metallic flavor and a clinging smokiness. Palate is a bit fizzy for me. A bit of a cloyiness

Smoked? Really? Too thin/watery for me to think of it as such. I got more of a vanilla/syrup kick out of it, probably from some caramelized malts. Enjoyable and drinkable, nonetheless.
