Commercial Description:
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

A earthy malt aroma leads one to belive that this is going to be a heavy malty brew. While it is malty, it is not overly sweet or heavy. Medium-bodied with slightly tart finish, the is a flavorful maple-tinged bre. Dark chestnut with an ample tan head and decent laving, Jinx serves up autumn well with a hint of winter’s warming alchohol content, and a brush of summers fruitiness. The smoked character is largely subdued, and this brew takes on more of a brown ale flavor profile. Pour me another.

It has a nice aftertaste with a touch of maple hidden in there but a rough start with the somewhat musty-coppery aroma. The flavor is pretty balanced but its earthiness takes getting used to. I think this is growing on me. The slight bitter edge it has is the only turnoff IMHO.

Poured dark ruby wiith a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet grapes and bubble gum. Taste is lightly sweet with a touch of vinous grapes and a slight hint of smoke. Overall, somewhat mild in body and flavor, but balanced and agreeable.

2007 bottle....looks like a coca-cola...very little foam but a tan color...smells like the essence of a half chewed burnt hot dog, but so mild that it took me many sniffs even to get that...thin body, seems unbalanced, no smoke taste, just an ordinary substance...has a malt, cereal-like finish, not awful but not real impressive...smoke is merely a suggestion on the finish....chalky body, if that makes sense 2006...12 oz bot...Yum Yum, creamy light ale...soft carbonation & interesting...has a brown ale/ hazelnut aftertaste...really friggin good (can I say that?)....very likable Rating reflects 2007 bottle

On tap at Barcade. Clear, light brown color with a small tan head. Mild smoked malt aroma with some caramel. Flavor is pretty much the same, with a hint of butterscotch on the finish.

on tap at Bar 6, NYC. chestnut colored, light amber at the edges. mostly clear. light tan foamy head. aroma of toffee malt, caramel too. peaty aroma is hardly there. flavor is lots of toffee malt, some wet burnt hay but not strong at all. light ashen aftertaste. had this served at my wedding 4 years ago, and I remembered it being a little bigger then. still pretty smooth for a beer approaching 7%
