| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Pours to a nice dark copper with a thin, but long lasting beige head. The nose is heavy on malts and nuts. A deep smokey malt flavor with a lasting alcohol finish (especially if drank with food.) This brew tastes how fall feels. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2008 This brew poured a dark brownish copper with barely any head. It smells of very sweet malt. It’s sweet and medium-bodied in the mouth and finishes sweet and almost smoky. I find it strange the flavors seem both strong but subtle. It’s a pretty interesting concoction that I can’t say I like a ton, but it was still worth a try. tubehead (10), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Oct 5, 2008 This is not one of Magic Hat’s best...it pours well with a heavy malt flavor. It has a lingering aftertaste - a little like a barleywine, although somewhat smoother. It is a nice copper color, not as much foam as other smokeds. It is drinkable, but I probably won’t go back to it - I greatly prefer the #9 among the Magic Hat lineup. taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 5, 2008 From bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste was similar to the nose. Not one of my favorite Magic Hats.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Well I just watched Kimbo get KO’d as I’m getting ready to rate this. Coincidence.....hmmm.....haha (I know, I’m a goofball). But anyways. This has a nice and deep/dark brown/red color to it. Has a burnt malt smell with small hints of cherry and apricot. Can taste the smoked malt with what seems to be caramel and apricot. Has a bite in the end. Not bad at all. Another good brew from those at Magic Hat. joebudzjoe (224), Connecticut, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Draft @ Monster B’s. Like many Magic Hat’s, original for sure, but I’m not sure if I like this too much. Has similar palate to a weisse with dark brew qualities but I don’t like the combo. demitriustown (693), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2008 12 oz bottle: An almost translucent amber pour with a fluffy medium sized off white head that lingers. Aroma is definite roasted malt charcteristics, caramel, nutty, a bit of smoke but not overpowering, and some almost weizen like qualities in the scent as well. Taste is malty, a little bit of smoke upfront but more comes through the back end. Light fruitiness, caramel, and a woodsy flavor round out the taste. Palate is lightly bitter on the back end, somewhat dry on the lips, and a nutty smoke flavor lingering on the tongue. Overall, It’s alright. People in my area are raving about this beer but I think it’s just so so. Cheers!
