peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 24, 2008 Nose is wine grapes, sweet. No smoke on the nose but its really there in the mouth. I think this smoke taste goes beyond subtle. Toothpaste flavour on the finish. Mouth is mostly malts. No real depth. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Sep 23, 2008 Pours a murky/cloudy dark brown and has a tan frothy head. Aromas of sour hops, touch of smokiness, bread and little citrus. The flavor is more on the smoky side throughout, with hints of chocolate, sweet/sour hops, bread, caramel, and a little nut. A pretty decent all around beer that does I must say remind me of autumn. I can see myself out in the woods at a camp fire drinkin this one. gpekar (221), Maryland, USA Sep 22, 2008 Poured a clear dark copper color with a thin tan head that reduced to just a film very quickly. The aroma that was there I couldn’t detect any specific scents. The flavor was mild and a bit smokey, but not too distinguishable as to flavors being detected, just like the aroma. I could taste the alcohol at only 6.9%ABV. I’ll have to try this one again. I just didn’t get it. epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Sep 22, 2008 nothing impressive, tastes like a bland porter or stout, not really sure how to describe it dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Sep 19, 2008 12 oz bottle from a variety 12 pack. Pours a very good looking mahogany brown with a smaller sized foamy off white head. Aroma has a strong smoke backbone but has other aromas all over the place, citrus, plastic, bubblegum, chocolate, bread, lots of sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a smooth creamy finish. Flavor is more solid then the aroma with some nice smokiness, lots of doughy bread, slight nuttiness. Not the best smoked beer I have ever had by any means but a solid effort from Magic Hat. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009 9/18/2007: Jinx pours a caramelized brown color with a large, fluffy, beige head that is long-lasting and creates good lacing. The aroma has a good caramelized sugar on top of of sweet apples. The flavor also has a slight applesauce quality to it in the front. It then has a good caramelized maltiness and good smoky flavor. I really like the smoke in the finish. The smokiness of this beer really complements the slightly sweet and caramel and the fruitiness of the malt. There is even a bit of chocolate that comes through here and there. Nice. This medium-bodied beer has a smooth and creamy body. According to the cap, "Beer is good food." This beer is pretty good and delivers a fairly satisfying fill.
3/4 pint bottle from Magic Hat mixed 12-pack purchased and Bigg’s Hypermarket in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #342 for this beer...
9/26/2007: Magic Hat Jinx is clear brown in color with a diminishing off-white head. The aroma has maple syrup, light molasses, roasted malts, and a faint peat-like smoke. The flavor is toasty and nutty with plenty of caramel. There also seems to be some grainy alcohol characteristic. This medium-bodied beer is smooth. This is kind of a weird, difficult to describe beer, but it is also hard to put down!

thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 17, 2008 Pours brown into a shaker. Off-white micro head leaves little lacing as it recedes to skim surface. Smoke aromas. Caramel and hickory from front to back. Slightly thin in the middle with a lasting dry smokey medicinal finish. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 15, 2008 I wasnt getting a whole lot of smoked flavor, but thats a good thing. This is one of the best Magic Hats ive had, this one has some backbone. Kind of a muddy look to it thats not so good though. The high ABV definetly hit me, so thats a good thing too.
