Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in Rochester. All in all, a difficult beer to rate. The only sure thing is that it really was not anything over the top. The beer did not go well with an 80 degree day in August. Perhaps in late fall I will re-rate...

A below average scotch ale, pretty boring. Pours a super clear ruby red with little head. Smells of fruit, caramel, a bit of vanilla and hazelnut. Taste is quite empty, smooth but forgettable, with a strange caramel apple finish. Had in the bottle.

The smoky aftertaste emulated a campfire, but failed to capture the pleasantness of such a setting. I thought the aftertaste killed the beerperience.

12 oz bottle from variety pack. Clear amber. Aroma dark sugar, dried fruit, caramel. Fruity sweet caramel, toast. Used to love this in college around 12 years ago, and now I’m extremely unimpressed and almost put off. This is a non-committal smoked beer, and it’s not enjoyable as a smoked beer, nor as an unsmoked Scotch ale. I think they added smoke since I last had it.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark red with long lasting, white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of caramel, cherries, hints of grassy hops and smoke. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Caramel, piney hops, smoked wood and ripe fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and semi-dry. Not bad for Magic Hat.

deep amber to light brown color; aroma of caramel malt and floral hops; a well balanced beer; bready malt and roasted malt with caramel notes, balanced nicely with floral hops

Bottle at home. Pours clear brown with a medium, creamy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is light oak and smoke, dates, toast malt and earthy hops. Flavor is sweet malt, light smoke, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle from Night Of The Living Dead Variety Pack. Clear amber pour. Aroma of brown sugar, light smoke, dried fruit, red berries. Flavor is caramel, toast, fruity. Not really smoky on the palate, more like a burnt sugar flavor. Fuller bodied. Long finish, kind of dry. Not bad at all.

A rather metallic aroma with a nice clear Carmel brown color. You can taste the smoked malts on the initial taste and then it fades to a nice hoppiness. I'm not a huge fan of Scottish ales, but I can do this one. Not a favorite, but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed to be handed one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
