Smoked? This didnt taste like a cigarette ashtray. Not a bad brew. I thought it was a weak american strong. Oh well. This beer was enjoyable none the less.

12 oz bottle. Pours a beautiful caramel color. A nice deep reddish brown. Nose is malty and earth like. Did not get any smoke in the aroma at all. This is a nice malty, earthy, sweet, caramel flavored brew. I don’t see where this is a smoked brew though. There is nothing in this brew that reminds me of "fall’s bonfires". A little tiny bit of smokiness came thru at the tale end.

on tap at Bar 6, NYC. chestnut colored, light amber at the edges. mostly clear. light tan foamy head. aroma of toffee malt, caramel too. peaty aroma is hardly there. flavor is lots of toffee malt, some wet burnt hay but not strong at all. light ashen aftertaste. had this served at my wedding 4 years ago, and I remembered it being a little bigger then. still pretty smooth for a beer approaching 7%

Pours a clear copper with a beige head and some lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, earthy, dark fruits and light spices. Flavor is medium sweet cherry, earthy, nutty and some alcohol burning. Light to medium body. A very pleasant beer, can’t call it smoked however.

Medium red brown pour with thin film of bubbles. Nutty aroma of a slightly smoky malt. Hints of some sweetness. A bit of a thin yet round mildly sweet malt flavor. Thin, but fluid body. Nice beer.

12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. Freshness date of end of Jan. 2005 on back label. Poured out a deep amber color, with a sticky white head. It slid back to a generous lacing on top of the beer. Aromas are of sweet caramel candy, with a distinctive aroma of Ringwood yeast. I wish they’d destroy that damned yeast, because it tastes like crap. Tastes are of Ringwood yeast, candy sugar, weak malts, and maple syrup. Average mouthfeel, however it is too sweet. Finishes cloying as all get out.

Not a bad beer. I didn’t really taste that much smoke in the beer, but it was still a nice beer.

Smoke aroma and flavor is minimal. Brownish color and thin body. A very bland drink.

Bottle. Clear copper color with a small head. Aroma of caramel malt and grains. Tastes of sweet grains and leaves, followed by the campfire smoky finish. It seems like a really nice fall seasonal, but the label art is terrible.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 williamherbert (1064) - Syracuse, New York, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Deep reddish brown with a nice half-finger of head. No lace. Deep and dark; opaque. Smell is dark smoky malt but not that strong. Tastes like a dry amber-red with a roasted/smoky BBQ accent. Really malty and dry but with sweetness at the tail end of the swallow. Slightly bitter, esp as it warms up; has a bite. Lots of bite, maybe hard to repeat. Still, a smoky, rich brew.
