Commercial Description:
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

in bottle. a dark amber with off-white head. Yummy beer, but hard to identify the style without seeing the write-up. I tasted a chocolately nutty flavor with an spiced twist at the end. My guess was this was a nut brown; perhaps peat imparts a nutty flavor?

Complex aroma of burnt nuts and light chocolate. Clear dark amber/brown. Not much in the way of a head hear. Starts off nutty finishes slightly bitter.

Pours a deep brown with a small white head. Aroma is of licorice, with wheat and earth notes. Taste is very smooth with spicy notes mingling with the wheat and earth characteristics. A solid seasonal, nothing special but good.

Poured from: 12 oz bottle. Drank from: Duvel tulip. Temp: cellar. Best by: end of 12/07. Color: murky, opaque brown. Head: off-white, bubbly, mostly fading. Lacing: light. Aromas: earthy, leather, smoke, salty air, decaying leaves, canned brownbread. Body: medium-ish. Texture: lightly oiled. Carbonation: somewhat biting. Flavors: mostly bitter, but with a mild sweet underbelly and salty overtones. Finish: bitter, with a burnt quality; slightly numbing. Overall: nice, complex.

Sampled at the Flour City Brewers’ Fest 2008. Magic Hat Jinx is a hazy amber ale with a huge, fluffy, cream coloerd head. The retention and lacing are excellent. It has a bready aroma with a touch of sweetness and roastiness. It is medium bodied, smooth and slightly metallic in the mouth. The finish is sharp. It has a well balanced flavor; slightly sweet with a touch of caramel and a slightly alkaline note. It beats #9.

bottle. brown color with small head. Malt, sweetich, rounded fruit flavors. Id on’t taste the smoke at all. Enjoyable brew, not mind blowing, but quite nice.

Smoked? Really? Too thin/watery for me to think of it as such. I got more of a vanilla/syrup kick out of it, probably from some caramelized malts. Enjoyable and drinkable, nonetheless.

12 oz. bottle. Poured a ruby brown color with barely any head. Had a malty maple nose. The taste had more malt and maple with a very, very slight smokiness. The finish was mainly sweet, with some hops added in for a nice bitterness. It hides the alcohol very well. I liked this beer, but was hesitant to buy it because Magic Hat didn't say what kind of beer was in the bottle. I don't like that with the Magic Hat beers.
