COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumnís magic: itís an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fallís bonfires. Available in the Fall.

A fairly standard amber ale with some nice smokiness, but some issues as well. Amber color with a minimal head. The flavor is solid, some caramel and smoke, but the aftertaste has a very soapy, cleaning fluid, vaguely perfumey quality. A bit of an alcohol burn, which is neither a negative nor, in this case, much of a positive. What’s good is not original, and what’s original is not good.

12oz bottle from Crossroads. Poured a clear Amber color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of sweet wort, toasted grain, and hints of scotch malt. Taste is grainy, with old citrus fruit, and hints of scotch malt.

Some of the flavors are there, but it's a pretty thin beer without much body. Not horribly complex or memorable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is light smoked malt, so faint that it takes a hard snort. Light brown and pale. Large scotch bites paired with an English ale. The taste is good. The palate is better. A great campfire beer.

Thin but dense white head. Aroma is old bread, yeast, and some raisin. Kind of a lot of carbonation for this style. The flavor is fairly bland with some small notes of banana and hay. I get almost no smoke. I like Magic Hat, but this is not my favorite brew from them. However, it is very drinkable, and I think I would enjoy it in the woods next to a camp fire.

Appearance: translucent golden brown color with crew colored head, about an inch head when poured and dissolves and a medium pace Aroma: not too strong of an aroma, malt Taste: malty, smoke, more flavor at end but not the most flavorful beer Palette: light bodies beer, small bitterness at end but not potent Overall: I have had better the flavor is not complex ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Hints of yeast with caramel malts, but itís all very faint. Appearance: Bright amber with a nice tan head. Taste: Light sweetness balanced by a light sourness. Palate: Medium body, slick oily texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Not a fan. Iím not sure what they were going for with this beer, but it certainly isnít working.

Brownish amber color. Sweet, earthy, and yes a hint of smoke. One of the more enjoyable offerings from Magic Hat that I've had. Full bodied and rich. A decent scotch ale and a good fall beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2014 Appearance: pours with a large light tan or dark beige head that settles into a nice density, the beer is a really clear transparent brown color Aroma: very slight smoke, malty, alcohol Taste: smoke spice on the finish, also some bitterness on the finish, malty backbone Palate: bitter and spicy aftertaste, lively carbonation, medium mouthfeel, Overall: not a bad beer but it just leaves something to be desired, lacks complexity, does have some smoke notes in there tho, probably an amber with smoke is the best way to describe it

Drank out of a twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegmans. A slight earthy aroma but pretty bland. A crisp initial taste, finishing slightly smokey and bitter. Would like to see Magic Hat incorporate some roasted malts.

A below average scotch ale, pretty boring. Pours a super clear ruby red with little head. Smells of fruit, caramel, a bit of vanilla and hazelnut. Taste is quite empty, smooth but forgettable, with a strange caramel apple finish. Had in the bottle.
