jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 11, 2009 Hazy amber with decent, creamy beige head / Nose of bread, caramel and cooked fruit / Medium body, somewhat chewy and malty, with thin finish / Flavors of grain and dry hops with cooked fruit notes / Fair. mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA May 10, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber color with a 1/2" white head. Aroma is mild citrus hops. Moderate body and quite drinkable. Mild hop flavor with a malt backbone. Typical IPA flavors, albeit on the mild side. Be a nice sessionable warm weather brew. gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA May 7, 2009 Cloudy amber gold with a big, fluffy, off-white head. Fairly mild hop aroma. Pretty malty body with a crisp hoppy finish. Smooth and drinkable, but nothing very distinguished. phukktifano (159), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 7, 2009 Light brown with a thin white head. Aroma is clean with hops and malt. Flavor is earth, malt, hops and an odd aftertaste. Nihon (239), Vernon, Connecticut, USA May 5, 2009 Very mild aroma, one of the maltiest ipas I’ve had. Sweet and spicy, but a little light for my tastes. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2009 Updated: Jul 7, 2009 3/26/2009 and 7/07/2009: Magic Hat Lucky Kat IPA is going to get somewhat of a bum rap after following the Westy 8. Absolutely no comparison, but no surprise there. I have some of the Westy 8 set aside for later. But I digress... Actually, this beer is still a pretty good IPA. I have no issues with Magic Hat brews. They are solid and respectable and always a bit different from the style cookie cutter. This beer is no exception and is very drinkable. It is golden orange in color with a slight toastiness, bittersweet citrus, and thick, frothy off-white lacing. There are notes of honey in the aroma and the flavor is floral with a dry, spicy-like finish (similar to a rye beer). This is a pretty good IPA with a moderate level of bitterness that sticks with you.
3/4 pint bottle (5.8% Alc./Vol. / Drink by: July 09 / Cap: "Undressing. Distressing or a Blessing?"). Rating #209 for this beer.
Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Apr 28, 2009 Middle of the road. Not as crisp a finish as I like. Good color and clarity. All the usual flavors!
