| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 20, 2009 12 oz bottle: Aroma is hops upfront but a grassy almost wheat scent intermingled, doughy. Appearance is an amber/golden color with a thick off white head that lingers for quite a long time. Taste is sweet, really subdued hop taste. The overall taste is unlike the aroma which was more powerful hop texture. After more sips the hops com through a little more, candy, and a strange wheaty texture to this brew. Palate is bitter on the tongue, mouth feel is quite carbonated and wet. Aftertaste has a lingering hop texture then disipates into nothing. Overall, a light wieght IPA in my honest opinion. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | May 20, 2009 Pours brownish amber with a decent piney aroma. Flavor is not as hoppy as I thought it might be. Caramel and breadiness almost outshine the hops. The lighter side of an IPA BroSpud (597), , Massachusetts, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2009 Tasting at a beerfest [Disclaimer: This was tasted along with many, many other beers during a tasting at Julios. Some of the details are a little hazy]. Not impressed. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 15, 2009 Definitely not an imperial pale ale. Te aroma is pitch pie hops, sweet, bready. The appearance is a nice dark amber color, white head. The flavor follows the aroma, but is a little sweeter, more caramel, definite piney hops. The finish moves toward the piney hops bitterness, appropriate for the style. Decent and enjoyable IPA overall, if not great. aracauna (2374), Georgia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2009 This is surprisingly boring for an IPA. There’s a bit of caramel in the malt, but the flavor profile seems dulled. The hops come across as part of the sweetness instead of providing any significant bitterness or bite. This is a candied IPA. beernbourbon (267), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 12, 2009 Pours clear brown with medium off-white head. Aroma is hop, bread, grain, notes of champagne, and a touch of sour. The initial flavor is a little sweet and bready. The hops come thorough for me a little, but not until about midway through. The finish is grassy and yeasty with only a hint of hop. I have found this same aftertaste with many Magic hat brews. Im not sure if it’s the yeast they use or some sort of handling artifact. Either way, it’s a bit off. It does not ruin the beer for me, but it certainly does not contribute in a positive way for me. jstraw (758), Chicago, Illinois, USA
