porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Sep 5, 2009 (Bottle (best by end 7/08 - oops I’m a little late) from Lou’s Beverage Barn) Pours fairly hazy but bright amber with three fingers of lightly amberish-biege head that slowly recede to a foamy cap. Aroma of pine and light grapefruit over some caramel-vanilla-egg. Mouthfeel fairly smooth and nicely thick for an IPA. Heavy foamy broken rings and sheets pf lacing. Flavor of medium pine and grapefruit hoppiness over a nice fairly rich malt base of caramel, egg and vanilla, along with hints of fruitiness. Medium bitterness overlays and provides a nice pinch in the finish. A nice meaty IPA. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Sep 2, 2009 12oz - Aroma is sweet perfumey hops and caramel. Flavor is soft caramel malts which quickly fades to to crisp floral hops. Palate is soft. A tasty session IPA. bobman006 (38), New Jersey, USA Sep 2, 2009 Bottle. Hazy orange-copper with fluffy head. Aromas of caramel, grain, and pine. Flavors of caramel and grapefruit. Slightly metallic. Thin body doesn’t work well with the carbonation. rosenbergh (843), Helsinki, Finland Sep 2, 2009 355 ml bottle. From the US (H). BBE AUG 09. Hazy dark amber colour with small tan head. Caramel sweetness and hoppy bitterness in aroma. Yeast, fruits, dry hoppy bitterness and some spices in flavour. Quite easy for an IPA. Imperial? No. But pretty enjoyable Ale anyway. jport4087 (73), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 30, 2009 Updated: Sep 5, 2009A little bitter for my liking but overall a good IPA. In short, good not great. blindeyedbetty (148), Arlington, Virginia, USA Aug 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle pours a cloudy ruby-amber color with oodles of off white head that leaves a sticky tight lacing. Aroma is of a sweet-spicy malt. Front palate is spicy yeast with a malty middle and finish of hops with an almost nut-like aftertaste. Easy to drink but not anything outstanding. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Aug 27, 2009 [bottle]
Slightly lemony toffee aroma with nice hops that are not necessarily American--not grapefruit/pine, but spicy/floral. Hazy bronze with a lacy, nearly white, thin cover. Spicy caramel malt with a blast of floral hops that are quite bitter, but a round bitterness--not sharp, that drops off, leaving a nutty, sherry-like flavour. A little tangy green apple note too. Medium body, medium carbonation, almost clean finish. Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Aug 21, 2009 A lightly hazed amber color with a very tall, bubbly, off-white head. An orange citrus note is the most dominate aroma, caramel malt, light biscuit and some sweet grape. Flavor has sweet caramel, the hop flavor trends toward a columbus hops citrus flavor- orange citrus, light spicy, very robust, a toasted malt, apple and grape sweetness round out the flavors. Solid mouth feel with the beer being of a moderate density and carbonation. Brew overall was pretty solid with it leaning to a sweeter citrus side of the IPA spectrum.
