Hazy amber color, nice lace. Strong earthy aroma, medium mouthfeel, dry caramel flavor, reasonable hopping. It’s like a crossover between an English IPA (bitter but not as much as an American one and without fruity/resiny hops) and a good English Bitter (the earthy hops).

May 1, 2008 On tap at Blind Tiger in NYC. Pours golden with a off-white head. The aroma has citric and tropical hops and small amount of malt. Medium body with normal carbonation for the style. The flavor has aroma traits, but mixes in some soapiness. Overall this is a pretty generic IPA that is just okay.

Oct 5, 2008 Coppery red, foamy off-white head. Nutty, piney aroma. Flavor is a bit odd - walnuts and caramel, with only a relatively small hop bite. OK, I guess, not really something I’d drink a lot of.

Jan 22, 2009 Copper pour with a thin tan head. Bready/earthy aroma with some caramel. Very nearly full bodied. Spicy, perhaps rye as others have mentioned, flavor. There are some earthy hops. Slghtly metallic on the back end. An interesting ’sweetness’ like most of this breweries offerings. this one is pretty good.

Jul 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear amber with an average, frothy, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, caramel, straw), heavy hop (pine, citrus, herb), average yeast (sweat) with notes of peach, apricot, and pineapple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Dec 14, 2009 This IPA poured a slightly cloudy, light orange colour with a nice big frothy, white head. To the nose there are scents of orange and pineapple citrus, citrus and more citrus. First taste was smooth with a nice mellow hopp flavour. Flavours include tea and citrus. Finish is hoppy with a little bitter flavours lingering.

Apr 28, 2008 A fair IPA from Magic Hat. It’s actually quite good but since the IPA market is so packed with many far better examples, even a brew that is generally good is relatively not so good.
