2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2011 Bottle. It poured a cloudy amber with a reddish hue in color almost like a dark cider. It had a very small tan head that was fully diminishing and had fair lacing that did a good job of sticking to the glass.
The aroma was mild of a toasted bread malt, a piney hop and a touch of an earthy yeast with hints of citrus and caramel.
The taste was surprisingly mild with the with a touch of malts and a hint of caramel in the beginning, then becoming a tad more on the bitter side with a note of citrus at the end. The flavor was left to linger well after the swallow allowing some mild enjoyment until the next sip.
The mouthfeel was a little light in body for an IPA and had a semi-dry texture to it with a nice soft carbonation.
Overall kind of mild for an IPA. Although nice tasting and quite drinkable, most definitely could have stepped it up a notch in the hops department.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
i keep giving them chances though I don’t think anything has ever stood out. at least they’re cheap. an ipa or imperial pale...whatever...with little bitterness and hop presence. Not bad but boring.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
4 magic hat ipa’s side by side. 1 Electric Peel, 2 Encore (odd notion, wheat), 3 Lucky Kat, 4 HIPA.
Flatened quickly. Tastes a bit watery compared to others. Faint ash in aftertaste drops this a bit.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
It has a deep amber or copper color with very good clarity. The head builds up tall and fluffy. Its head is just off white in color and leaves cool rings of lacing on the glass. There is a big fruity hop aroma with some hints of citrus and pine. It starts with a doughy, sort of earthy malt with some mild sweetness and light caramel notes. Hop flavor slowly takes over with fruity, citrus and mild pine notes. Its hop flavor is very big and juicy yet bitterness is more modest making it very easy and fun to drink. The finish is semi-dry with a nice bitter fade. Its medium bodied with average carbonation and a slick easy drinking texture.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated on 7-02-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized smooth, fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, mostly transparent, slightly hazy orange body, and spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malts, citrus, pine, and grapefruits hops. The Taste is grapefruit, lightly bitter, caramel malts, citrus, and pine hops. This beer has a semi-dry short finish. The Palate is creamy and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this is not a very hoppy tasting IPA. It could be a session IPA. This is a beer that I do not recommend as it needs more hop flavor and more character for the style.
