Best by April 2004 drank on February 2004. Sickly sweet light fruit aroma, sharp tasting sweet ending. Mouthfeel is hard to determine, as this beer never stops kicking me in the nuts.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2005 2/12/02 On tap (n/a bottled), 2002. Starts out promisingly, ends up something really special. The pour reminds one of Guiness, and at first taste, that’s what it seems: a dryish Stout (though not as dry as big G). The more you smell it, and the more you taste it though, the less easily you can categorize it. Venom (or whoever) put it in as a Bock; I’m not sure what the hell it is. Caramel malts mix with a semi-dry finish, a wonderfully thick but not cloying body, and some bizarre pine- and earth-notes in the flavor, plus perhaps a hint of anise. Just great, unique, one of the best this brewery offers. Oh, yeah, and a powerful kick-in-the-ass ABV )(I don’t know what, but at the end it seemed Imperial Stout-level). Get it while you can!

2/19/03 Lighter, more wheaty, closer to the Weizenbock that I believe the brewers think it is this year; excellent balance as last year, but doesn’t seem to have as much oomph. A little thinner, too? Still great, one of the brewer’s best. Wish more people could try it! 7/4/8/5/16 4.0

3/20/05 this year’s seems darker, more chocolaty-bready, with some late vinous qualities and a full, frothy mouthfeel that helps cut the very heavy roastiness. On tap at Three Needs, Burlington

So incredibly smooth with a luscious fruity flavor that also carries with it a nice sharp bite. Huge alcohol presence and a gentle but aware Ringwood buttery fruitness. So good it should be illegal.
