| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 12oz Bottle, purchased at Wegman’s Wilkes-Barre. Dark charred rabbit skin and mole sauce aroma. Chocolate comes clean. Pours a syrupy dark black, with a tall inch of quivering espresso foam. Flavor begins stark, dry and bright, segueing to a sultrier, more sugary snappy finish. Bright roasty edges mingle with fruity belgian yeasts. It’s a successful marriage here, considering the lighter heft of this example. I like the drinkability, the extended complexity and the cleanliness. Ends on a nicely juicy classic Belgian yeast note. A surprisingly good effort by a brewer I’ve largely written off. thegreenrooster (1829), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Pour is a oil looking black with a small tan head. Aroma is of espresso and chocolate. Flavor is some more chocolate with a heavy dose of alcohol. Even with the alcohol this is pretty easy to drink and it does have enough chocolate aspects to carry this one. scraff (1942), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Pitch black, tan creamy head. Soft chocolate roasty notes with an undercurrent of raisin and plum throughout. Dark fruit twang with a well layered dry black chocolate and coffee foundation. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Not bad at all… Tessic (454), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 23, 2009 This stout poured a deep black colour with a big creamy brown head. To the nose there are scents of chocolate, roasted nuts, smoke and a little grass. First sip was smooth and smokey with flavours of dark chocolate and coffee most prodominant. Palate is lingering smoke with a little hopps. blklab2007 (961), Connecticut, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Really nice aroma. All sorts of stuff going on: licorice, caramel, a bit of yeast. Nice roast. This is a bit of a let down (dry, thin) in the flavor, but all-around tasty beer. Slipstream (750), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Black stout pour. Light fruit and malt aroma. Wacky Halloween label. This tasted a bit dry and yeasty, but plenty fresh. I tasted more cafe americano (wi with a twist of lemon (sugar, no milk) than chocolate. It went down leaving a fresh tingle on the palate. This was a nice lighter stout, and one of the better Hats.
