UPDATED: OCT 14, 2009 gloriously opaque black. nice hot-cocoa colored head. nose is heavy coffee, cappucino, and licorice. loads of aroma not unlike those little liquor-filled bottle-shaped chocolates you can get... flavor is more of a malted chocolate, coffee, kahlua flavor. blackstrap molasses as well. velvety mouthfeel, warm finish. my wife buys the Magic Hat sampler for the #9 and the Circus Boy, but I’ve yet to not be impressed by the Odd Notion series.

Growler shared by bruce at Stateline... Nice dark color.. small head. Great smooth taste of chocolate, roasted malts and some smokiness... Nicely done.. Not picking up on any belgian characteristics.. Anyway nice beer that should be in a bottle soon. Thanks bruce for sharing the growler!

Verre de dégustation, provenant d’un fût, au Vermont Brewers Festival 2009 (Burlington, VT). Arôme: Odeur de chocolat avec une pointe de café torréfié. Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de chocolat avec une pointe de café torréfié et de caramel. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût légèrement chocolaté. (Rating #2550)

Tap at the Blind Tiger. Chocolate sweet cherry aroma, light yeast and cheesecake. Carbonic, dryish, creme brulee flavor. Crispy yeast with a nice, slightly overcarbonated body. Chewy, husky wheat notes.

On draft at Union Jacks Pub. Pours a pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate and bitter malt. Taste of bitter malt and milk chocolate.

Draft @ UJ’s: Had this one back in March during PBW. Poured a midnight black color with a small tan head. The aroma was roasted hazenuts and chocolate. The flavor was chocolate malts and weak roasted nuts. Maybe a dash of vanilla. Overall, just OK, not super great.

Draft at Blind Tigers Magic hat event. Pours a black body with a tan head. Lightly roasty with hints of chocolate malt. Lactose, and some milk chocolate accents, iron and minerals. Dry malty body with a light paper, chocolate residual sweetness. Eh another miss for magic hat.
