Brewed in the USA... Cape Horn Oktoberfest. Pours a very dark brown color with a nice lasting beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, wood and coffee. Taste is much of the same with the addition of some nutty flavors. Pretty good stuff, would like to try a full bottle.

Bottle thanks to curly. Pours a jet black with fair fading dark brown head. Great rich roasty sweet coffee and chocolate aromas. Vegetal on the flavor, which I guess is suppossed to be the chocolate, and a bitty nutty, and candi sugar belgian yeast. This is actually quite tasty, like a belgian sweet stout. Yummy.

Bottle from the Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: It looks black in the glass and briefly had short tan head. The aroma had burnt coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, licorice, and damp wood. The flavor was slightly more interesting, having a Belgian yeastiness that countered some of the harshness encountered in the nose. The finish reverts to burnt coffee. Actually, it’s drinkable, but by someone else next time.

tap TJ’s Everyday - pours a shiny oily black. Aroma is coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is on the thin side - roasted malts, dry chocolate and coffee dominate the palate, but there’s very little subtlety on substance. Kind of a funky licorice aftertaste. Damn I miss the Heart of Darkness!!

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, chocolate, slight soy sauce, slight smoke, slight smoked meat, and light wood. Poured pitch black in color with a medium-sized, brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Looks quite nice. Flavor is slightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of roasted and burnt malts, smoke, bitter coffee, light wood, light chocolate, and slight smoked meat. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Smoke, bitter coffee, and slight smoked meat finish.
