12 fl oz bottle shared with Lubiere, served cold in a tulip glass. 08JL12.

App.: Deep amber, tan rim. Aroma: Spicy, caramel, toast crust, little burnt sugar, light, not bad. Palate: Medium body, relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Tangy, fruity, a little floral, some caramel/toffee, meh; dry with a touch of tang, minimal bitterness and a roasted malt, sherry finish.

Interesting contrast between nose and mouth.

A reddish copper ale with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, a smooth nutty malt with herbal notes, grassy, not bad. In mouth, a smooth treacle caramel malt with lightly roasted character, oily mouthfeel, nice. Tasted with ProbstBlueRibbon, July 7, 2012. Thanks Karl.

(12oz bottle best by Mar 31, 2011 thanks to cavie) clear rich copper with soapy medium thick tan head. Nose of hibiscus, caramel, and sweet bread. Taste is very dry, bread, rye, creamy, spicy, not really floral but papery. Dry finish with a touch of alcohol present as well.

Hazy amber, tan head. Aroma of nut, caramel, dark fruit, some light floral spice. Taste has toffee mostly and I don’t get much hibiscus or any spice or floral flavor in general.

Pours a lasting ring of beige head with a copper colored body. Aromas of caramel, some floral notes. Flavor is much the same. Finish has a nice dryness with a floral/tea note.

5/16/11. 12oz bottle. Amber pour with a fluffy tan head that’s gone fast. Sweet crystal malts on the aroma with a certain unidentifiable fruitiness. Sweet malts with a sort of chalky floral presence, like chewing on a rose petal. Weird, and not great.

Bottle… Clear, brilliant, blood-orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head that never fully dissipates. The bouquet is of biscuit, sugar cookie and orange blossom honey. Medium-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and supple carbonation. Perfectly balanced and refreshing, but thin and fairly nondescript. Short, crisp, lightly minerally finish. I’m not so certain this refresher was the brewer’s aim in pursuit of a “winter offering,” but the climate in Vermont ranges from "stingingly cold" in the winter to "barely mild" in the summer, so maybe it drinks the way it was intended. Who knows? Northerners? Strange folk. ;-)

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a almost nonexistent white head. It has a fresh sap and floral aroma. It has a caramel, cereal, bread, spice, floral and fruit flavors. I kinda like this beer.

A - Pours a clear amber-red color with a finger of off-white head. The head had okay retention, which ended up as a spotty covering the top with a ring with little lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet malt tones with a bit of hop undertones. A bit too sweet and subtle overall. T - Starts off with the sweet malt and just a touch of floral elements. There is a touch of hops and spices through the middle of the beer. The sweet malt dominates the finish with some lingering malt flavor. M - Medium-light bodied with fairly heavy carbonation. The heavy carbonation gives it a bit of a watery mouthfeel and subtracts from the taste a bit. Though it also gives it a very crisp feeling. D - Fairly drinkable. Flavor is a bit simple and a touch unbalanced, but the heavy carbonation keep the beer very crisp and refreshing.
