Stop and smell the petals. Pistil is a summer beer unlike any other, brewed with a combination of dandelion petals, Pale and Acidulated malts, flaked oats, and Apollo and Northern Brewer hops that results in a one-of-a-kind beer with a slightly sour acidity and a smooth malt body. Perfect for taking down deep thirst.

Bottled. Poured medium golden with a lot of sediment suspended in there.. did not look good. The aroma picked up slightly sour floral and grassy notes, with some honey backing.. sweet and quite pleasant. The flavor found sweet honey, rolled oats, and a touch of bready malt at the core.. lightly sour floral and lesser orangey notes around.. finished with good balance between sweet malts and tangy botanicals. Lighter-bodied with more filling carbonation on the palate.. very smooth across the middle.. I thought the dandelions worked well in here.

Bottle cap say: "the planet has needs for your deeds." Pours a highly carbonated light caramel. Aromas of dry hops, malty grain, slight hints of grass, and a lightly sweet hint of toffee. Flavors of light grass, light sweet grain, and slight hay. Lightly sweet, crisp, mostly clean, and light in flavors. Nothing really stands out, but fun to try different mixes in the brews. The danelion actually can be noticed by thinking really hard and reminding oneself, "oh yeah, this flavor is the petals." yum? ......

Aroma is sweet tangerine with some gingery notes. Taste is the same but a letdown from the aroma. Still very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours hazy dark gold with a fizzy short-lived head. Aromas of wheat, some orange, rose petal, and cherry stones. The flavor is slightly tart lemon and citrus, wheat, and grass. Refreshing, tart, and a touch dry. Itís alright. [1086]

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small head that does not last long. The aroma does indeed smell grassy and of dandelions. The rate is light but very nice. There is some bitter free paddle ale aspects with some additional grass. Pretty nice.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2012 I really enjoyed this beer ! Pours golden yellow, not a whole lot of aroma but the taste has good layers - grass (dandelion I assume), lemon, and a small hint of sourness and sweet malt notes play off each other. This is a great beer to drink when the weather is hot !

Hate to sound like Church Lady but I guess the imagery of spreading seed was too much for the graphic designer - it doesnít take Freud to figure out this hippie art. Foggy, applesauce color, thin white head. Aroma from the bottle is sharp golden APA with some sulphur. From the glass, itís a bit sweeter and candied with fresh pineapple tones. There is an implied spiciness to the aroma that isnít actually there -- it puts me in the mind of cinnamon or very ripe ginger root, but I canít say that I actually pick up those aromas. A mellow American golden ale, moderately sweet, tangy. I guess I better include the obligatory reference to grassiness - it has a note of untoasted/green sesame seeds. Medium to slightly light body, efferevescent, lemony finish. This is a good summer brew - distinctive and refreshing. Part of a mixpack birthday present from the gang at the office, but I think they got it at ABC. Farewell and parting to Chief Charlie.

Smells like, well, dandelions of course. Very cloudy dark gold. Very unique appearance. Slightly sour. I like the concept of this beer......and the label which clearly has a lot of "reproduction" symbolism and innuendo. The oats were also a wonderful touch....if they were missing I probably would have said it was too light bodied and too sour....the oats round it out nicely. I appreciate the cleverness of this beer, and salute Magic Hat for letting the brewer pull it off.

12 oz bottle. Pours light golden with a pure white head. The aroma is clean with a touch of herbs, from the dandelions no doubt. Drank extra cold, this beer is very thirst quenching, really light in the flavor, with a touch of the dandelions. Really interesting.
