COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stop and smell the petals. Pistil is a summer beer unlike any other, brewed with a combination of dandelion petals, Pale and Acidulated malts, flaked oats, and Apollo and Northern Brewer hops that results in a one-of-a-kind beer with a slightly sour acidity and a smooth malt body. Perfect for taking down deep thirst.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, dandelion, light hops, grain, and a hint of hopcitrus. Poured yellow in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small, medium, and large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, grain, light hops, cereal, and slight florals. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Slightly bitter, malt, grain, cereal, floral finish.

Tasted from 12oz bottle into snifter. It poured a pretty amber color with off-white foam, lasting with a little lace. A fairly neutral, true-to-style light-body pale ale with woodsy hops and subtle weedy, flowery dandelion essence. If you remember picking a bouquet of bright yellow, resiny dandelion flowers as a kid, this smells and tastes about like you’d imagine. Homemade dandelion wine is a very old tradition, made a the beginning of summer and ready to drink at the end of summer, thus symbolic of the passage of fun times. This was even the central focus of a Ray Bradbury novel of the same name. I’ve often wondered what a dandelion beer would taste like; now I know. Light body, moderate carbonation, faint tartness from the aciduated malt, crisp snap. An interesting, easy-drinking summer refresher. Give it a try.

Bottle. Pours a pale gold with a medium-sized white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is sweet and mildly fruity, with an interesting bitter, earthy note. Flavor doesn’t quite measure up, with all the above present in much more muted doses. Ends fairly and oddly (not surprisingly) bitter. Light mouthfeel.

The aroma has some spice to it, but aside from that, I could have classified this beer into several categories. It’s nondescript, save for the aroma. But OK.

Was interested that this was made with dandelion petals. Murky gold pour. Aroma was very earthy and grassy with some citrus. Taste was dry and had some dandelion bitterness. There is a noticeable malt presence toward the end which (to me) kinda ruin what was going on with the dandelion and florals notes. A thicker beer than I would have thought. Overall, kinda a cool idea which kinda delivers. Fun, but not great.

Poured from bottle. Faint white bread aroma. Cloudy gold, white head. I taste mild floral hops, herbs, citrus, grass, malt, hay. Herbal aftertaste. Dry and refreshing. Better than I expected.

Bottle from giant eagle. Light hop smell and turbid pour. Crisp clean taste and sharp initial mouthfeel followed by smooth floral aftertaste. Not too spiced. Overall a decent warm weather beer. ---Rated via my mouth

Pours very turbid canary with splotchy white head and a lot of floaties. Nose is floral, spicy, and hopcitric. Tastes very dry, tannic, spicy, floral, with a watery palate and a finishing earthy flavor.

Bottle from the mixed 12 packs. Gold pour with a medium foamy head. aroma is kind of one note and grainy. Slightly yeasty. There is a smoothness to the body that I assume is the oats, a herbal/tart quality. Light floral hop and soft malty sweetness balance relatively well.
