COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stop and smell the petals. Pistil is a summer beer unlike any other, brewed with a combination of dandelion petals, Pale and Acidulated malts, flaked oats, and Apollo and Northern Brewer hops that results in a one-of-a-kind beer with a slightly sour acidity and a smooth malt body. Perfect for taking down deep thirst.

Bottle. Nose is somewhat dry but dank, lightly woody and fruity/tang notes. Flashes of bright citrus. Pours yellow-golden with strong carbonation and a soapy white head. Taste is relatively dry, light bitterness with a strong wooden component, resolves into a fizzy but beautiful bready character. Very light tang, light (and faintly astringent) herbal and grassy touches. Faint grain, good clean pale malt right up the middle, some lemony citrus, light mineral. Light-medium body crisp and supremely refreshing! Clean with great balance, Iím pleasantly surprised.

altonbrownd (4614) - Brussels, BELGIUM - APR 7, 2013
Bottle at restaurant in Chevy Chase. Nice amber body with big head. Nose of roasty malts and citrus. Taste is malty with citrus bursts and nice hops in the finish. Pretty good. Refreshing.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4547) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright golden color with lots of tiny floaters and a medium sized foamy orange white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, tangy and a bit floral with notes of honey and chamomile. The flavor was way too dry, bitter and acidic with light perfume and citrus. Medium length bitter and dry finish with lingering citrus and perfume. Light body. Eh. The aroma had promise but the flavor really failed to deliver.

b3shine (4429) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks decent; a slightly hazy gold with thin white head that dissipates into lacing pretty quickly. Smells lightly floral. Tastes like it smells with a bit of acidulated malt and very light hops. Average on the palate with a slightly tart mouthfeel. Underwhelming.

Pailhead (4413) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUN 4, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of lightly tart citrus, floral notes, honey, and a touch of bread. It pours a transparent gold with a one finger, slightly fizzy, white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a touch of sweet honey. The finish turns to light-moderate citrus hops, grapefruit, and light floral notes. Itís light bodied with lively/fizzy carbonation. Overall, it tastes like a lightly floral Pale Ale. Itís a decent lawn mower beer.

A like this beer. A bit grainy but it has a great crisp bite to it. A bit heavy for the style of a golden ale but it certainly works for me. Underrated I say.

ChainGangGuy (4280) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 2, 2013
12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, pale light yellow body with a smallish, white head.

Smell: Shredded flower petals, chopped mint leaf, and some weedy, and bitterish dandelion greens atop the subtle, highly restrained malts.

Taste: Mild malts from top to bottom with some slight milky oat hints. Light, low sweetness that doesnít last long. Herbal tea accents, a slight sourness there, and a touch of lemon, too. The hops yield a slight mintiness. Dry, lightly sourish, vegetal finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Itís a bit different, and, while interesting, one was enough for me, thanks.

berkshirejohn (4204) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2014
12oz bottle from Drum Hill Liquor, Chelmsford, NH. A cloudy pale amber pour with a ring of white head; sweet aroma; grainy body with a slight sourness thatís quite refreshing. I was a bit uncertain about this when I saw the ingredients, but itís actually a good summer refresher.

Pours deep gold into a Sam glass. White head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Pale malt and summer flower aromas. Sharp and slightly tart upfront turning to caramel before the lasting earthy bitter finish.

The aroma is hoppy with grassy, soapy, and citrusy hops and it has a yeasty bread element. The appearance is hazy gold with a large head. The taste is bitter and pretty much just hops. The palate is average. Overall itís not what I expected itís a bitter IPA type of beer but itís not bad.
