COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stop and smell the petals. Pistil is a summer beer unlike any other, brewed with a combination of dandelion petals, Pale and Acidulated malts, flaked oats, and Apollo and Northern Brewer hops that results in a one-of-a-kind beer with a slightly sour acidity and a smooth malt body. Perfect for taking down deep thirst.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow gold body with a fizzy white head that had pretty good retention for a Magic Hat beer. The nose is light, fruity, and floral with a scent that does actually remind me of dandelion wine actually. The flavor is a bit overly thin and weak though, actually pretty downright watery. There’s a slight floral hoppiness and a minimal bitterness on the back end, along with a light perfume like quality. Thin bodied and very fizzy with a vegetal finish. Can’t say too many good things about this one.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5188) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright golden color with lots of tiny floaters and a medium sized foamy orange white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, tangy and a bit floral with notes of honey and chamomile. The flavor was way too dry, bitter and acidic with light perfume and citrus. Medium length bitter and dry finish with lingering citrus and perfume. Light body. Eh. The aroma had promise but the flavor really failed to deliver.

Bottle. Nose is somewhat dry but dank, lightly woody and fruity/tang notes. Flashes of bright citrus. Pours yellow-golden with strong carbonation and a soapy white head. Taste is relatively dry, light bitterness with a strong wooden component, resolves into a fizzy but beautiful bready character. Very light tang, light (and faintly astringent) herbal and grassy touches. Faint grain, good clean pale malt right up the middle, some lemony citrus, light mineral. Light-medium body crisp and supremely refreshing! Clean with great balance, I’m pleasantly surprised.

Mostly clear gold, with a thick, frothy, well-sustained lace - nose of clean, pale maltiness, light tartness, subtle herbal notes, and the faintest hint of the dandelion - light bodied - nice, soft, frothy carbonation in the mouth - very clean, with no obvious flaws - lightly tart/acidic and floral up front - lightly bitter middle, with the dandelion mildly evident - mild sweetness pops up momentarily before a crisp, lightly tart, quenching finish - quite refreshing, and a nice surprise from Magic Hat.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a very softly carbonated hazy dark yellow orange colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was floral musty and malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish fruity aftertaste. The complex flavor contained notes of softly acidic wheat orange peel mildly vinous mild hops herbal fruity and malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again. Makes me buro from the carbonation.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, dandelion, light hops, grain, and a hint of hopcitrus. Poured yellow in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small, medium, and large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, grain, light hops, cereal, and slight florals. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Slightly bitter, malt, grain, cereal, floral finish.

This poured a clear yellow colorw ith a white head. Aroma was of light mint, grain, and not much else. Didn;t really taste the dandellion, at least i dont think, mainly just grainy plain bland golden ale.

Clear light golden with a slight chill haze, under an unstable rocky white head. Aroma is floral hoppy but not too strong..definitely smells like a 4.5% beer, with quiet dandelion notes and a little pale ale malt body. Flavor is nice and crisp with a surprising amount of bitterness (good thing), coming with more of that pale malt backbone and crisp floral and grassy hops. Honestly if it weren’t for the slight bit of dandelion on the nose, I would confuse this for a Sierra Nevada Pale. Drinkable body with a low-abv-ipa bitterness throughout.

12oz bottle from Drum Hill Liquor, Chelmsford, NH. A cloudy pale amber pour with a ring of white head; sweet aroma; grainy body with a slight sourness that’s quite refreshing. I was a bit uncertain about this when I saw the ingredients, but it’s actually a good summer refresher.

A like this beer. A bit grainy but it has a great crisp bite to it. A bit heavy for the style of a golden ale but it certainly works for me. Underrated I say.
