Inviting Otter malt aroma, with a little roast, wood, sweet caramel and florality - better as it warms. Just a shade lighter than cola - perhaps cloudy, perhaps not, it’s hard to tell. Dreadful label. The consumption did not live up to the promise of the aroma. Leathery, a bit vacant, a grassy/herbal hopping with very low bittering. Thin mouthfeel, light and quick toast finish. Drinkable and enjoyable, but #$@#$ I wish it tasted as good as it smells. Part of the Spring mixpack, retrieved from the back of the bottom cooler shelf at WalMart.

Bottle into pint glass. Part of variety pack. It’s rather bland, not strong in any area. Dense head and lacing. As the label says: MILD. I’m not impressed but at least it has no crappy aftertaste.

halfonit (1062) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Pours a clear brown color. Aroma is mainly of malts, hops, and some slight chocolate. Flavor is pretty much the same with a little roastiness and caramel. Leaves a roasty malt finish. This is much lighter on the palate than it originally looks like in the glass.

Light body and kind of harsh carbonation make me dislike this one from the start, but the flavor profile is good, and it is certainly a beer that drinks smoothly. Problem is I didn’t really feel like I needed to finish my glass...

Suttree (4498) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Dark brown, thin ring of foam. Smells like toast and molasses and some earthy, woody notes. Flavor is more toast and molasses, plus dark sugar, and a dry woody finish. Maybe I’m in a good mood, but this isn’t bad...

Bottle thanks to John. Pours dark brown with off white head. Nose/taste is metallic with earthy grains, caramel candy and malt. Lightish body.

light sweet and bright body with flavor of brown gravy like broth. some malt in the flavor and light enough in flavor that you can imagine you taste what you want to. bitter mid palate and watery slightly slick finish. perhaps a waft of caramel.

Tasted at the 2012 St. Louis Centennial Beer Festival from bottle into sampler glass. I’m always glad when cool breweries help keep the English Dark Mild style alive. Grainy, malty, very subtle hops tartness, but mainly just smooth, toasty and roasty. Low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel like breakfast cereral with milk. Tangy, fruity ale finish. Good stuff!

Bottle. Clear copper brown with a fizzy white head. musty, brassy caramel, light chocolate, and molasses aroma and taste. Not bad.

12oz bottle-thanks Tim-pours deep amber and an offwhite head. Aroma is medium malt-caramel, earthy. Taste is roasty medium malt-bready/some chocolate/peat, 2nd earthy/fruit hops. Finishes with a drying effervescence.
