yobdoog (1021), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Jun 17, 2009 Nice bright red amber color fluffy head. Aroma and taste is pretty hoppy. Pine and citrus and not that balanced. Some caramel malts but mostly juicy hops. Not bad. jake65 (1543), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jun 1, 2009 Bottle - thanks beerbill. Pours a murky orangish brown with a finger of creamy beige head. Nose of citrus, caramel, and light florals. Tastes a bit sweet, wet-hopped with citrus and light florals. A little caramel and toffee. It has that sense of nuts and bready malt like a brown ale, but still has plenty of citrus and sweetness like a hoppy amber or APA. A fun session brew. dnstone (55), , New Jersey, USA May 28, 2009 Great IPA-ish hop flavor, unusual for ambers, which I usually don’t care for. Definately worth a taste. WVHouseofBeer (246), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 22, 2009 Had a great floral aroma, and tasted of spicy hops. This is by far the best Magic Hat that I’ve tried. shawnm213 (535), South Bend, Indiana, USA May 9, 2009 pours amber with a nice light beige head. leaves some lace on the glass. pine, citrusy hops, grapefruit on the finish. slight creamy mouthfeel. a nice hoppy amber ale. meisterbrauMHB (50), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 30, 2009 Pours a nice amber color with a thick head. Odor of pine, citrus. Flavor is a nice blend of hops and grapefruit flavor without being overly bitter. Overall, a nice amber ale. cblado (134), Wisconsin, USA Apr 25, 2009 12 oz bottle. (Or 3/4 pint as the label says.) Pours a clear amber color, thick head, leaves some lacing. Aroma is a citrusy hops, followed by some caramel and malt. Flavor is great, a perfect blend of citrusy, piney, floral hops, followed by a thick, creamy malt. I was not expecting this from the "amber ale" description. Overall a great brew. Got this as a bargain too, since it was out of season. Crafty07 (369), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Apr 20, 2009 12 oz bottle pours hazy amber but I’d disagree that this winter hopfest falls into the traditional ’amber ale’ category.
Strong but pleasant hoppy and pine aroma gives way to strong hop taste but finishes better than you’d expect.
The cover art on the bottle is unattractive but what pours out into the glass will be welcome.
