| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2009 12 oz bottle. (Or 3/4 pint as the label says.) Pours a clear amber color, thick head, leaves some lacing. Aroma is a citrusy hops, followed by some caramel and malt. Flavor is great, a perfect blend of citrusy, piney, floral hops, followed by a thick, creamy malt. I was not expecting this from the "amber ale" description. Overall a great brew. Got this as a bargain too, since it was out of season. Crafty07 (392), Florence, Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2009 12 oz bottle pours hazy amber but I’d disagree that this winter hopfest falls into the traditional ’amber ale’ category.
Strong but pleasant hoppy and pine aroma gives way to strong hop taste but finishes better than you’d expect.
The cover art on the bottle is unattractive but what pours out into the glass will be welcome. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2009 12ozer. Pour is ruby redish with a lacy off white head. Aromas of piney hops, citrus, and caramel. Flavor is hoppy throughout and finishing smooth. I thought this is one of Magic Hats better brews. roder60 (1020), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Pours slighly hazy dark brown color with huge amount of bubbly manilla head. Aroma is citric hops, specifically grapefruit and orange with slight sweetness. Flavor is a bit watery and sweet base with a nice amount of citrus hoppiness, bit of roastiness in the body. Overall, not bad at all.
