basewars (144), Albany, New York, USA Dec 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown-amber with two finger head. Aroma is floral - lots of grapefruit. There a bit of malty sweetness in there as well. Minimal lacing. On the tongue, this is fairly sweet. The hops show in the finish. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 10, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle, light brown color with a thin white head. Has a sweet and hoppy aroma. A well balanced citrus hop taste with a mild sweet finish. Easily enjoyable. j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Dec 6, 2008 On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a clean dark amber with a medium white head. Lots of hops on the nose, complemented with a large amount of malt. Nice amount of body and a good hoppy finish. BeerEmperor (3), , Connecticut, USA does not count Dec 5, 2008 On tap. Great balance between hops and malt. Excellent creamy head. Reddish color, perfect for that first one in front of the fireplace on a cold afternoon. wyzzywyz22 (756), Wirral, Merseyside, England Dec 5, 2008 Bottle, Courtesy MP via NYC, thank ya fella!
Reddy bronze colour with a decent tan head. Aroma was citrus, brown sugar and hop. Flavour was most pleasant, a well balanced mix of caramel malt, hops and spices. Crisp, bittersweet finish. Liked it
Thanks for the Magic Hat glass too MP!! HonkeyBra (1279), Lemont, Illinois, USA Dec 3, 2008 I was ready to trash this. Magic hat has come up with some of the worst beers Ive had in recent memory. And, for their winter seasonal, they made an amber? Amber pour. Weak, almost funky aroma. But the flavor is a pretty hoppy with a bitter finish. Ive had worse ambers. But as a winter seasonal, this is a fail. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Dec 1, 2008 Bottle Dark amber pour with nice creamy head. Nice hopy aroma. Flavor well balanced hop and malt. Pretty decent brew. jezmez68 (332), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Nov 29, 2008 I’m not a fan of amber ales, but this is the best one I’ve had ever. The Simcoe hops do it for me. They dry hop these, and the aroma of this beer is intense. Pours a light brown with a medium head. Smells of simcoe and malts. Tastes nice, the Brewer’s Gold hops give a nice bitterness. This would be a constant item in my fridge if I could get it year-round.
