Pours a mahogany color with a thin white head and minimal lacing. The smell is of mostly floral and citrus hops with a bit of pine as well. The taste echoes the smell with a hint of malt sweetness in the finish. The dominating flavor is definitely a blend of hops that balances very well. The usual metallic after taste that Magic Hat brews usually have is not at all present. Mouthfeel is rather heavy for this style, and is very nice. Carbonation is balanced very well. Overall this is a great brew, and I have to say one of the best I have had from this brewery. Another great offering from Magic Hat. Reviewed on: 02-06-2008

Hazy dark amber with good, creamy beige head / Sharp nose of weed and dry hop / Light to medium body, effervescent, and long, dry and spicy finish / Flavors of weed and dry hops with lighter notes of grapefruit and burnt sugar / I’d call it an IPA.

A nice hoppy amber ale that keeps its balance. Enough flavor to be interesting but low enough alcohol to make it a delicious session beer. Had with different foods many times and almost always pairs brilliantly! Very hoppy but not cloying. I was very impressed! well done.

Thanks 17thfloor! Pours a dark red nearly brown color with a creamy off-white head. Mostly hoppy but with a nice sweetness to it as well. Hops are piney and fresh but there are some nice caramel and a little bit of sweet fruit. Flavor starts out relatively easy sweet and malty but quickly gains the hop pine flavor that balances it out. The nice part is that the caramel next disappears and continues to provides support for the pine bitterness. Finishes crisp with the hops but the malt and grapefruit sweetness keeps it fairly smooth. Some bitterness lingers. Medium body and average carbonation. I actually thought this beer was very well done and better than many other magic hats.

Pours amber into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Mild hop aromas. Flat and watery with orange upfront and a grapefruit finish.

hazy amber under a medium sized beige head. hoppy aroma with touches of tea. flavor is piney hops with some wintergreen, mint, herbs, and lots of caramel. i like the hop and huge malt interplay. my favorite magic hat so far.

12 oz bottle; Aroma of spicy piney hops. Very hoppy flavor - almost along the same line as an IPA. Palate finishes very bitter. What is the IBU? Very good for a winter ale if you like bitter.

(Bottle). Very distinct spruce and citrus aroma. Cloudy reddish copper body, large fluffy light tan head with nice lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet, citrus and mint, with a long malty finish. Really quite delicious. By far my favorite of Magic Hat’s offerings (along with the organic Orlio Black Lager).
