It’s not the best scenario that my introduction to them is with this beer, but it could be worse I guess. The beer isn’t bad, it’s just....an amber, which is about as exciting as a brown. Or an American wheat. Anyways, the beer was good with enough of a floral/citrus aroma combo to seem interesting. The flavor was too plain with very little sweet malt character I enjoy, which caused it to lack in body. A nice hop character though, with enough piney hops to notice. Carbonation nearly overwhelms the beer though. I’ll be looking for more Magic Hat beers to try. lamas (715), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA

Nicely balanced aroma that features equal parts citrusy hops and pine needles along with roasty coffee and caramel malts. Goes down smooth with a full body. Roasty, toasty caramel maltiness starts things off flavor-wise. A dark wheat breadish middle. Finishes with some resiny hops that linger. This was an underrated surprise. Flavor of resinous hops and some caramel malt. Hoppy finish. Pretty good, and the first Magic hat beer that was not a disapointment to me. pineypower (1090), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Amber color with no head. Hoppy aroma. Caramel with strong hop taste that mellowed out at end so it wasn’t bitter. Didn’t have the hop bite at end. JamesD (194), Centreville, Virginia, USA

It has a very pleasant spicy, piny, yeasty aroma with a similar flavor and a delicious looking murky amber color. There is a noticeable yeasty aftertaste which some may not like. alexanderj (2227), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Bottle; poured a brownish amber with a small to medium off white head. Aroma was pretty solid; caramel and toffee with citrus and grassy hops. Solid caramel and toasted malt backbone. Hops weren’t great tasting; floral and grassy. Not overly bitter. For the style it was above average for me. Naka (525), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Dark amber pour with a small, beige foamy head. A sweet fruity and caramel nose with some floral hops. It tastes pretty much exactly how you would expect from the nose: strong hops, mostly floral, but with a hint of pine. If you look for it, you’ll find some caramel malt too, but it is pretty overpowered by the hops. Very drinkable, if you dig some hops.
