alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 11, 2008 Bottle; poured a brownish amber with a small to medium off white head. Aroma was pretty solid; caramel and toffee with citrus and grassy hops. Solid caramel and toasted malt backbone. Hops weren’t great tasting; floral and grassy. Not overly bitter. For the style it was above average for me. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2008 Dark amber pour with a small, beige foamy head. A sweet fruity and caramel nose with some floral hops. It tastes pretty much exactly how you would expect from the nose: strong hops, mostly floral, but with a hint of pine. If you look for it, you’ll find some caramel malt too, but it is pretty overpowered by the hops. Very drinkable, if you dig some hops. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jan 9, 2008 Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Aroma has a greeness to it with floral and citrus hops and caramel malts. Flavor is of toasted and caramel malts up front with a slightly bitter finish of floral and citrus hops. Other then the aroma this beer was not too bad. Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jan 7, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poures a thin head. Can smell the hop aroma mixed with malt. Taste like citrus, nutty caramel and something else I can’t tell what it is. Very Drinkable, I honestly expected less from Magic Hat, I actually enjoyed this one. Very nice cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jan 7, 2008 I enjoyed a couple bottles of this hoppy, winter, seasonal ale. Noticeable citrus hop aroma, malty as well with a hint of coffee. Dark amber appearance with a large tan head and spotty lacing. Fresh and filling on the palate with a crisp hop bite. Great taste with a healthy dose of citrus American hops along with malt flavors of bread and caramel. A faint hint of coffee and smoke, very faint but it’s in there. Overall this beer resembles a standard American Pale Ale that contains a heartier/deeper malt profile. Drinkable and very fresh, I am impressed by Magic Hat with this one. shrubber85 (2840), Wallhalben, Germany Jan 6, 2008 Bottle. Caramel malt and pine hops aroma. Brown amber color with moderate fluffy head. Pine hops the predominate flavor with caramel malt less apparent. Very nice hoppy amber ale. Tmoney99 (4663), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 6, 2008 Bottle from Belmont Party. Poured clear reddish brown color with a moderate fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew. gsmitty80 (630), Washington DC, USA Jan 5, 2008 This was a great amber ale made with some spices and winter essences. Thick and hoppy as well, defiantly a new staple winter warmer around my parts.
