ehhdayton (1113), USA Dec 25, 2007 Pours an amberish brown with a white head. Aroma has a slight hoppish note. Flavor is with a little malt but is primarily with a piney note. Slight hop bitterness at the finish. An alright beer but could be better balanced. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Dec 24, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy brown with a moderate linen white head that lasted until about mid-glass. Lots of pine in the aroma. The flavor was completely dominated by a resinous pine flavor. If I want that much pine, I’ll drink pine-sol. Excessively bitter to the point of being almost acrid. No caramel malt detected at all, which is what I would expect in an amber ale. At least some better balance would be nice. Meh. cazort (413), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 23, 2007 (Bottle) Although there isn’t really a true "style" of Amber ale, this is my favorite beer ever to bear that name. I like the character of the hops, and the malt as well, which is rich and somewhat carmamelly, without being heavy. This was a good beer and I would gladly drink it again. I continue to be consistently impressed with magic hat brews. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Dec 23, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep reddish amber with a small frothy off white head. Aroma of citrus hops and a good touch of malts. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that makes this one an easy sipper. Flavor is a jumbled mess with the malts and hops fighting for the main billing and not blending at all. All in all a lot better then those cinnamon spiced, nutmeg flavored holiday fiascos. joebudzjoe (222), Connecticut, USA Dec 22, 2007 This is an interesting beer. They call it an Amber Ale, but from scent it smells like an IPA. I like the mix of spice flavor with hops. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Dec 21, 2007 Dark amber into the glass, with a small retentive head. Some Crystal and hops to the nose. Small caramel tries to break through a biscuity Crystal malt. This one is reminiscent of dry biscuit flour, with an earthen, peppery hop back... again, all dry. The mouthfeel isn’t nearly as bold as I would’ve expected for a winter offering. A tad thinner on the palate than I would have liked, and although malty, it just doesn’t offer the richness that I was hoping for. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Dec 21, 2007 Roxy Rolles is anything buy beautiful. Very malty beer. Unfortunately I bought a six pack of this stuff. I used it to water my plants. They died like I almost did when I used it to water my liver. Really just awful, the hops are everywhere but no dominant flavor sticks out. It just tastes like leather and cardboard. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 19, 2007 Had this in the closet since Halloween 2006. Dark amber color with bitter hop malt aroma. The taste was the same with firm body. Not bad, but not good either. Decent.
