I like the character of the hops, and the malt as well, which is rich and somewhat carmamelly, without being heavy. This was a good beer and I would gladly drink it again. I continue to be consistently impressed with magic hat brews. dmac (1442), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 23, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep reddish amber with a small frothy off white head. Aroma of citrus hops and a good touch of malts. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that makes this one an easy sipper. Flavor is a jumbled mess with the malts and hops fighting for the main billing and not blending at all. All in all a lot better then those cinnamon spiced, nutmeg flavored holiday fiascos. joebudzjoe (224), Connecticut, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2007 This is an interesting beer. They call it an Amber Ale, but from scent it smells like an IPA. I like the mix of spice flavor with hops. bubbleflubber (892), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Dark amber into the glass, with a small retentive head. Some Crystal and hops to the nose. Small caramel tries to break through a biscuity Crystal malt. This one is reminiscent of dry biscuit flour, with an earthen, peppery hop back... again, all dry. The mouthfeel isn’t nearly as bold as I would’ve expected for a winter offering. A tad thinner on the palate than I would have liked, and although malty, it just doesn’t offer the richness that I was hoping for. Skeegle (486), Maryland, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Roxy Rolles is anything buy beautiful. Very malty beer. Unfortunately I bought a six pack of this stuff. I used it to water my plants. They died like I almost did when I used it to water my liver. Really just awful, the hops are everywhere but no dominant flavor sticks out. It just tastes like leather and cardboard. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Had this in the closet since Halloween 2006. Dark amber color with bitter hop malt aroma. The taste was the same with firm body. Not bad, but not good either. Decent. efrumtheidiot (190), Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2007 pours amber with a white head. floral aroma with citrus/pine hoppiness. taste is a bit resiny with nice rounded bitter hop notes, some citrus. a very hoppy brew! nice, i think this one deserves better than the rating it has. would make a great session brew. bubbly mouthfeel. not very complex, just big hop taste. try it! sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2007 drank from bottle. surprisingly well hopped, it actually precedes the malt smell, even for an amber ale. flavor is pretty pedestrian, but solid. there are beers that taste identical to this and are rated 3.8, so i’m not sure what to think.
