Aroma of citrus, grasses, hops and some malt. Taste is almost a combination or an IPA and (lesser so) an Octoberfest - more citrusy, hoppy and piney than malty like a typical Octoberfest brew. Decent brew - just not sure I would put in a the Octoberfest category (description on this page calls it a Winter Seasonal - I think this beer is having an identity crisis) Fevernova (44), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2009 12 oz Bottle -- Dark amber with an off-white head. Lots and lots of caramel on the nose with some pine forest. Hoppy yet not aggressive. Really good balance of sweet malts and bitter hops with a yeasty finish. Foxbush (456), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 23, 2009 This was purchased in Ashland from the Caboose. Magic Hat has many successes and this is another above average beer. The color is clear amber that is most attractive well before drining. The fothy head stays with beer. The mix of spicy hops is excellent. This is well balanced beer with medium body and moderate carbonation. travita (1905), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The smell is caramel, malts, light hops, and ok. The taste is malts, hops, weak, and boring. The look is clear, copper, and has a white head. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Unexpectedly nice brew. The appearance is a nice red/mohagany color, white head. The aroma is a good balance between floral hops, caramel. The flavor is also quite nice, a mix of floral and citrus hops, caramel, toffee, brown sugar. The finish is an astringent hop bittering, both floral and pine. Medium mouthfeel. They must have pulled a lot of hops off the shelf for this brew. Very good. Poured out an impressive dark ruby brownish colour. smelt fantastic; heavy roasted grains, tomato paste, shitake mushrooms, parsley, smells like im in a kitchen. taste was far behind, nothing happening in this department. very dissapointing after the nose. gringo332 (238), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 15, 2009 The appearance is fantastic (dark ruby chestnut with an impressive tan head) and the aroma is decent (spices, hops and roasted malt) but it ends there. Flavor is surprisingly bland and watery. Something is definitely missing - good start but a disappointing finish
