Flavor was just way, way, way, way too hoppy. Nothing but hops, no malt, no balance, no sweetness, no finish. Take it from someone who likes Ambers, this is not an Amber, this is an IPA, and not a very good one. Rvrndmaynard (47), Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, USA

Pours a beautiful, hazy auburn color with a moderate off-white head. Citrus, fruit and berries in the aroma, orange, raisins and blackberry juice, brash hops of pine and aromatic herbs. Quite hoppy upfront, citrus and oily spruce, blackberry and prune, grapefruit and orange, bold and bracing hops galore with a piney finish. This hop profile makes this occur to me more like an IPA than an APA as the hops dominate. Medium body and gently smooth carbonation. sloth (1662), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Clear amber/orange colored brew. Nose is spicey, piney hops. Body is lightly medium. Light caramel maltiness, fruity with notes of peach and faint melon. Piney and lightly citrusy. Finish is dry and quick. Another ho hummer from Magic Hat! awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 3, 2007 From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, ruddy coppery amber color with some late autumn oak leaf coloring and a large, well-sustaining head of foamy off-white. Restrained white grapefriuit citrus hop aromas waft from the glass with some lemon dish-soapy notes. Some sweeter, orange glazed, toasted biscuit notes create a pleasant malt background. Not bad, but more assertiveness from the hops would help offset some of the unpleasant soapy tones. Medium bodied, full, yet lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Some rye-ish biscuity malt flavors appear immediately on the palate with some quickly fading grapefruit hop characters. Pleasant at first, but the fast fading of the hops leaves a somewhat dismal, leathery gingerbread maltiness left sitting nakedly on the palate. Almost a tiny hint of acrid, sour offness in the finish. The malt characters seem to be crying for more depth or more hops to keep it company. Tick.
