Fairly big flavor: heavy on the malts, and almost as heavy on the hops. Nice, medium body. Smooth and robust finish. One of the better Fall seasonals I’ve tried. durhambeer (1202), Durham, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Draft. Maybe the only Magic Hat beer I’ve had that I’d consider drinking again? Dark clear amber pour. Hoppy but with a strong malt backbone. Nothing exciting, but drinkable. knights97 (80), Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Had this on draft down at Brick’s. nice aroma of caramel and a hops, this beer starts off a bit bitter with a strong caramel taste but let it breathe for 20 minutes and it tons down, very good beer as the caramel starts to blend with the hops, as the body is medium and not much of a head to it, nice amber ale for the season. patrickfannon (303), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Bottle. 12 oz. Pours a deep, murky amber with a frothy beige head. Pungent, inviting nose. Aroma of clove, roasted malts, and cinnamon. Rather full body with a warm, smooth mouthfeel. Hearty finish. Very good amber ale. spiritsbeerman (47), Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2009 A hoppy autumn beer for the ones that cant let go. A nice beer, all it should be with a" MAGIC HAT" spin. what a great american brewing co. tmoreau (566), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Sampled at a Mead, Cider, and Beer Tasting by Binny’s Beverage Depot, Glen Ellyn, IL. Poured to my wine/sampler glass a brownish amber with off white foam to the head and spotty lacing. The aroma was citrusy, and a little toasted and caramel malt. The flavor was similar, with a touch of malt sweetness followed by a moderate hop bitterness that hung around into the finish. Good, but not bold enough to make it past the end of lawnmower time. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 2, 2009 This is supposed to be an autumn seasonal? No spices, no caramel malts. Just an over hopped mess that tastes hauntingly like a lot of other magic hat beers, with nothing special about it. This was about as far from an amber as an amber is from a stout, imo. Can someone please tell magic hat that every beer they make doesn’t need a thousand pounds of hops per ounce. Cybercat (786), Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Comes out of the tap a dark, warm, barely translucent brown with a decent tan head. Aroma is not strong but is malty and surprisingly hoppy with hints of yeast and cinnamon. Flavor is strongly hoppy, more like an IPA than an amber ale, with a malty undertone and a touch of spice. Smooth, tingly texture leaves a hoppy but not too bitter finish.
