3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A little pepper on the nose. Bronze color with a taste typical for the style but seemingly flat. Don’t know if it was a bad keg or the way it should be.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy copper orange pour. Fluffy eggshell head. Earthy and floral hop aroma. Some malt sweetness as well. I pick up a little smokiness. Very citrusy initial flavors. Very orange-like. Nice dry spiciness from the rye. One of the better rye IPA's out there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a strange IPA. It has some dryness but the rye is definitely front and present. It ends up feeling quite heavy. Okay. Prefer the Pistil.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Amazing spicy hop aroma and brilliant color, but there is some weird finish after the rye notes fade from the palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
As one might imagine, the combination of bitter hops, rye, and a relatively generous amount of alcohol for a session beer (though not for an IPA) renders this a bit astringent. However, its a rye IPA. You expected sweet? Not overpowering, you can handle it. Relatively smooth for rypa style. Not great, but might be the best of the three "irregulars" that come with the #9 beer in the 2013 mix pack. Certainly not bad.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle from the Spring Fever sampler case. I think the low ratings are accurate here as a few things are missing here, most notably a real rye taste or the dryness you would have with rye. Magic Hat should have done better.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a moderate off-white head. Nose is a little hoppy with a lot of rye in it. Taste is slightly bitter, but overrun with the rye grains. Smooth finish and appealing taste.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Deep brown cloudy color. Rye, hops and grassy pine. Not as thick and and bold as I'd expect for the abv. One of the better iPa s from magic hat that I've had
